In their first league meetings since 2012, Wolves were unbeaten against Chelsea last season. They won 2-1 at Molineux and drew 1-1 at Stamford Bridge. Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota netted after Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s opener in the former, while Eden Hazard’s last-minute equaliser cancelled out Jimenez in the latter.
Wolves proved last season they can match Chelsea and more – as with the majority of the top teams – with only consistency stopping them challenging properly for a top-six place.
This year, they have been less impressive in the league but that is as much to do with the distraction of their Europa League commitments.
The international break may have come at a good time, therefore – a decent opportunity to re-group and re-focus.
Even in their reduced form, they have had some stand-out players; Raul Jimenez scored in each of the last four games, and netted twice against Chelsea last season.
Back at home and after a break, Wolves have the quality to upset this Chelsea team.
Chelsea, for their part, also have a striker in red-hot form in Tammy Abraham – who has scored four times in the last two games.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have proved before they can challenge Chelsea and this match will be no different.
Willy Boly is suspended after his late second yellow card in the last league game, while Matt Doherty is recovering from a minor knee surgery. Romain Saiss is rated 50-50, which could mean Joao Moutinho returning in his place.

Chelsea are unbeaten since their penalty shoot-out loss in the Super Cup, but they have drawn two of their last three matches. Their lone win in their last five games was away to Norwich, when Tammy Abraham scored twice – either side of Mason Mount’s strike. Last time out, Abraham scored twice to give them a two-goal lead against Sheffield United only for the Blades to hit back after Kurt Zouma’s 89th-minute own goal.
