WAT vs BHAFC Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Watford are at 10/11, a draw is at 12/5, and Brighton are at 3/1.

Watford didn’t have the ending to the 2018/19 campaign that they would have liked, but they still had a rather good season nonetheless.  They made it to the FA Cup Final, though they got beaten badly, and they were challenging for Europa League seriously until a late skid saw them fall to 11th on 50 points, seven off the pace of Wolves in the end.  That, though, could be a blessing as they didn’t look to have the depth to take it on.  Gracia is back in charge, and that is perhaps their best bit of news.

Brighton, meanwhile, will enter the season having come off the heels of an awful ending to their last.  They hardly collected anything toward the end, and it nearly cost them.  In fact, it would have condemned them to the Championship had Cardiff not gotten it so wrong down the stretch to rescue them.  Now, under a new manager, there is much work to be done to restore them.  The first priority will be making the Amex tough to play at.  They’ve hardly had any signings of note, so that won’t help them much.

Betfair have no for both sides scoring at 1.8.

Deeney scoring the last time is at Ladbrokes for 9/2.

Watford vs Brighton Prediction

Brighton surely can’t be worse than they were last season, right?  Especially towards the end.  We say that, but we all know it can go downhill quickly.  The problems looked deeper than just the manager, and this might show just that.

Correct Score Prediction: Watford 2-0 Brighton

Watford Team News

Javi Gracia has generally the same team he had last season, and all of them look fit and ready to go for a fresh season as they chase down a better finish than the one they ultimately produced last term.

Watford Key Man

No matter the opponent, Troy Deeney is always going to be a problem to have to deal with, and at the start of the season, with his energy reserves on high, he might just be an ever bigger object to navigate.  Look for the captain’s energy to carry his side as he presses and harries the Seagulls.  In midfield, Etienne Capoue comes off the heels of a good season in the engine room last term.  The former Spurs man has shown he can be a box-to-box man and run matches alongside Doucoure, and they’ll hope that shows through here.

Watford Team Form

Watford have three wins and two losses in their last five matches:

2-1 win vs Real Sociedad
0-1 win vs QPR
1-2 win vs Bayer Leverkusen
2-1 loss vs Ajax
6-0 loss vs Manchester City (FA Cup)

Watford Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-4-2

Brighton Team News

Graham Potter will start his tenure in charge with a fully intact side here, although it is one that looks very similar to the one that his predecessor Chris Hughton finished up with last term.

Brighton Key Man

The fact that Glenn Murray, at his advancing age, was their sole source for goals, nearly, last term and still looks to be their best player is a major problem for the Seagulls, and it’s one that means they will have to hope he keeps healthy and firing when he can.  At the back, captain Lewis Dunk is going to be massive for them all season long.  His defensive partner Duffy ended the season on five goals and was second best in the side, so that means they have to be impervious defensively to withstand relegation again.

Brighton Team Form

Brighton have four wins and a loss in their last five matches:

2-1 win vs Valencia
0-4 win vs Birmingham City
2-1 loss vs Fulham
0-1 win vs Crawley Town
2-5 win vs Liefering

Brighton Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-4-2

Last season didn't end the way Watford would have wanted, with a hammering against Manchester City and a slide in the league toward the end, but they come into this season in a much better place than Brighton. They have an established manager who knows his side, while Brighton have a manager that could well be out of his depth. It's going to take some time for us to find out, but before then this should be a good start for the Hornets at Vicarage Road.
Each of the last five matches have ended with at least one of the two sides keeping a clean sheet.
