In what was their first meeting since 2007, Sheffield United came from two Tammy Abraham goals down to draw 2-2 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge back in August. Callum Robinson pulled a goal back and Kurt Zouma’s late own goal earned a point.
Sheffield United’s European charge halted abruptly as the season restarted with the Blades’ poor form seeing them slide down the table.
They have arrested that slide, however, to climb back into contention, taking seven points from three vital games against their rivals in their last three games.
Chelsea, in third place, are out of reach really – a Blues win in this game will make that mathematically correct too – but Sheffield United’s form has still got them right back on track.

Willian’s goals have been key to that, while Christian Pulisic is in good form and Olivier Giroud has opened the scoring in each of the last two games too.
With some exciting new attacking talent on the way for next season – Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech having already been confirmed for 2020-21 – those currently at the club have risen to the challenge.
As a result, even with a few injuries, it is hard to back against Frank Lampard’s side. They look well-placed to kick on further against the Blades.
Sheffield United’s defensive form is back on track too, but Chelsea have the firepower to break them down.

John Fleck faces a late fitness test, but Chris Wilder’s initial diagnosis was that the midfielder would miss this game. John Lundstram has already returned quicker than expected, however, so he could be involved from the start.
Dean Henderson – Key to Sheffield United’s success this season, a strong end to the season will set the Manchester United loanee up well.
John Egan – Key at the back but the defender has also scored in each of the last two league matches too, to earn the Blades a draw and a win.
Billy Sharp – No goals since the restart of the season but the popular club captain remains a key figure up front.
Sheffield United have got back on track with two wins and a draw in their last three matches to stay in the hunt for European qualification. Sander Berge, Lys Mousset and Oli McBurnie all scored in a 3-1 win at home to Tottenham Hotspur, before John Egan’s late goals were enough for a point at Burnley and a 1-0 win at home to Wolves.
After his goals in the last two matches, Olivier Giroud could start up front again. Frank Lampard has plenty of options, with Jorginho, Antonio Rudiger and Marcos Alonso among those on the bench last time out. N’Golo Kante is expected to miss out with a hamstring injury.

Willian – Scored six times during Chelsea’s last eight games, not just because he is on penalties but because he has started making a big difference in the front three too. He set up two goals last time out too.
Christian Pulisic – Scored in the win against Palace and the American now has eight in 21 appearances this season.
Chelsea have won seven of their last eight matches, bouncing back from a 3-2 defeat to West Ham with wins against Watford and Crystal Palace. Olivier Giroud has opened the scoring in both games, with Willian and Ross Barkley also netting in a 3-0 win against the former and Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham scoring in a 3-2 victory last time out.
