Philadelphia
VS
Real Salt Lake

Our Prediction Tip

Philadelphia will win this match.

The last four games between these sides have all ended in a draw, with 14 goals scored in the last three of those matches. Edu's late goal snatched a point for Union in this game last year, while Mulholland was also on the scoresheet that day.

All four times Philadelphia Union have hosted Real Salt Lake in an MLS game, the result has been a draw, so perhaps that is the most likely outcome to happen in this weekend's fixture.

Philadelphia Union v Real Salt Lake: Prediction

Philadelphia Union and Real Salt Lake have remarkably similar records for the season so far, with the hosts slightly behind after collecting one point fewer over the course of the season to date. The Philly outfit are just three points off the top of the Eastern Conference table heading into the weekend's schedule and they can get back on track after a dodgy patch of form in this game, although a draw is certainly not out of the question either.

Philadelphia Union v Real Salt Lake: Betting Tips

Philadelphia Union have been made the favourites for this game, with Real Salt Lake's six-match winless run certainly on the minds of the bookmakers setting the prices for the MLS this weekend. Union are offered at odds of 19/20 to claim the points, while RSL can be backed at 3/1. However, given the number of draws that have featured in this fixture in recent years, odds of a draw at 14/5 leap out as being very good value indeed. A repeat of last year's 2-2 draw is priced up at 14/1.

A few changes could be made by Union after they went down to a heavy 5-1 loss at the hands of Montreal Impact last time out, but Maurice Edu is still out injured.

Leo Fernandes, Fabinho and John McCarthy are among the players who will be hoping to be promoted into the starting line-up for this game. Fabinho in particular is having a strong campaign and deserves to be in the team rather than on the bench, with Tranquillo Barnetta suspended and therefore dropping out.

Philadelphia Union likely XI:

Blake, Gaddis, Rosenberry, Marquez, Yaro, Fabinho, Carroll, Pontius, McCarthy, Le Toux, Sapong.

Real Salt Lake may be unbeaten at home this season, but they are six without a win in MLS, a run that has seen them slip down the table in the last few weeks. Luke Mulholland's goal salvaged a 1-1 draw against San Jose Earthquakes last time out and a similar team is likely to be named here by RSL's head coach Jeff Cassar.

Yura Movsisyan (hip flexor strain) is a doubt for the game, with midfielders Emery Welshman and Sunday Stephen certain to miss out.

Real Salt Lake likely XI:

Rimando, Wilgert, Beltran, Maund, Glad, Beckerman, Morales, Movsisyan, Mulholland, Plata, Martinez.

Philadelphia Union and Real Salt Lake both come into this game after wobbles derailed their strong starts to the season and both MLS clubs will want to get back to top form as soon as possible to boost their play-off hopes. Union being at home hands them a key advantage here, with RSL\'s away form very ordinary this season, but a draw seems likely.
Philadelphia Union have scored at least twice in their last five home matches.
