NY Red Bulls
VS
Montreal Impact

Our Prediction Tip

NY Red Bulls will win this match.

The last six games between New York Red Bulls and Montreal Impact have seen two wins each, as well as two draws, so the head-to-head record between the teams is remarkably even here.

Impact won 3-0 at home against the Red Bulls earlier in the year, but NYRB are unbeaten in their last six home matches against Impact, winning 2-1 the last time Montreal visited Red Bull Arena.

Sacha Kljestan and Lloyd Sam were the goalscorers for the Red Bulls on that day, while Didier Drogba scored a late consolation for Impact.

New York Red Bulls v Montreal Impact: Prediction

New York Red Bulls have been very strong at home in MLS this season, with seven wins from their last eight home games in the league, while Montreal have struggled to make an impact in their matches on the road.

Impact's six draws from seven away matches in MLS shows they are hard to beat, but NYRB have one of the strongest attacks in the league and that could see them to victory here, extending their eight-game unbeaten run again.

New York Red Bulls v Montreal Impact: Betting Tips

The bookmakers have made New York Red Bulls comfortable favourites for their home match against Montreal Impact this weekend, with the hosts priced up at 6/4 to get the points here, while Impact can be backed at 22/5 to pull off what would be considered to be a shock result. Given how many games Impact have drawn on the road recently, odds of 14/5 on the draw may appeal.

New York Red Bulls have won their last four home games in MLS by at least two clear goals, so the handicap market may be a sensible play here, with 9/5 a very big price on NYRB to win by more than one goal against Impact.

A 2-2 draw at LA Galaxy was a credible result for NYRB last time out - although they let a 2-0 lead slip in the closing minutes - and there are unlikely to be too many changes for this game. Gonzalo Veron scored from the bench against Galaxy and could be handed a place in the team as a result, although the Red Bulls will keep faith with prolific goalscorer Bradley Wright-Phillips.

New York Red Bulls likely XI:

Robles; Zubar, Lawrence, Perrinelle, Lade; Martins, Kljestan, Muyl, Grella; Wright-Phillips, Veron.

Impact's 1-0 win over Houston Dynamo last weekend drew them level with New York Red Bulls on points in the Eastern Conference and they could select an unchanged team for this game.

Goalkeeper Evan Bush kept a clean sheet against Dynamo, the first shutout Impact have managed since June, while Matteo Mancosu hit the winner in that match and could keep his place as the lone striker in the 4-5-1 formation as a result, although Didier Drogba is back from suspension and could be reinstated to the team.

Montreal Impact likely XI:

Bush; Camara, Cabrera, Ciman, Oyongo; Piatti, Bernardello, Donadel, Bernier, Shipp; Mancosu.

Montreal Impact are a solid side, with a strong run of form taking them to fourth place in the Eastern Conference, but the Red Bulls are very tough to stop at home in front of their own fans. NYRB to take the points relatively comfortably.
Montreal have drawn six of their last seven MLS away matches, while NYRB have seven wins from their last eight home games in the league.
