Manchester City will win this match.
Manchester City’s 3-1 win at Goodison Park last season means the Blues have now won 69 matches to Everton’s 68 in this fixture, with 47 draws. While traditionally a ground on which City have struggled, they raced into a 3-0 half-time lead through Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling – Yannick Bolasie grabbing a consolation. The last meeting at the Etihad was a controversial one, meanwhile – Wayne Rooney opened the scoring for the visitors before Kyle Walker was sent off but City dominated the second-half and Raheem Sterling equalised late on before Morgan Schneiderlin also saw red. City went on to win their next 18 matches in all competitions. Here are the results of City and Everton’s last five head-to-head fixtures:
Mar 31, 2018: Everton 1-3 Manchester City
Aug 21, 2017: Manchester City 1-1 Everton
Jan 15, 2017: Everton 4-0 Manchester City
Oct 15, 2016: Manchester City 1-1 Everton
Jan 27, 2016: Manchester City 3-1 Everton

While they go into this game with key players out injured and after their first league defeat since March, there is no question Manchester City go into this match as favourites.
Pep Guardiola’s side have a poor record against Everton – failing to win Guardiola’s first three games against the Toffees – but they did win 3-1 at Goodison Park in their last meeting.
They also beat Marco Silva 6-0 when they met last season, when he was managing Watford, and will hope Everton’s attacking style proves their downfall.
Everton were very fortunate to escape with a point at home to Watford last time out, scoring in the dying moments to claim a 2-2 draw, and City will be a sterner test.
Leroy Sane scored twice in the win against Hoffenheim but should have had more – and likewise some of his team-mates too in an open game.
When games are open like that, City can dominate on the counter-attack, with Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling leading the way thanks to their explosive pace.
To sit in, however, would not be Everton-like – and would waste the four attacking players at the other end.
City have had a poor record against Everton for long periods of recent history, but anything less than a home win would be a big surprise.
Manchester City, even with their injury problems, are 2/9 to beat Everton with Betfair, Betway and 10Bet.
Over 2.5 goals is also low priced, with Betfair offering the best figure of 2/5. Combine the two, however, and Ladbrokes will give 4/7 on City to win and over 2.5 goals.
Both teams to score has been set at 41/50 with 888sport, meanwhile.
Sergio Aguero could return and is 4/6 to score at any time with Betway if he does, but Raheem Sterling scored home and away against the Toffees last season and is 21/20 with 888sport to score at any time.
Manchester City need to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat away to Chelsea but they have the tools – even with their injury problems – to do exactly that at home to Everton.
David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Kevin de Bruyne, Benjamin Mendy and Danilo all missed the game against Hoffenheim through injury in mid-week and of those it appears only Aguero might return at the weekend. Fernandinho will return in the middle, meanwhile – though Phil Foden will hope his performance against Hoffenheim is enough to see him continue too. If so, Bernardo Silva or Ilkay Gundogan could be rested.
Sergio Aguero – If fit, his return would be a timely boost as he looks to add to his eight league goals and four assists so far this season.
Phil Foden – Another big performance in the win against Hoffenheim could lead to a Premier League start for the highly-rated teenager.
Leroy Sane – Scored both goals in the Champions League win on Wednesday and could have had several more as he linked well with Raheem Sterling on the opposite flank.
Manchester City got back to winning ways last time out and they have now won three of their last four in all competitions. Leroy Sane scored both goals against Hoffenheim in a 2-1 City win to bounce back from a 2-0 loss at Chelsea. Prior to defeat at Stamford Bridge, however, Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling and Ilkay Gundogan all scored in a 3-1 home win against Bournemouth before Sane and Riyad Mahrez netted against Watford.
As expected, Michael Keane, Bernard and Theo Walcott all returned to the starting line-up last time out and they are likely to continue against City too – meaning no places for Kurt Zouma, Ademola Lookman and Cenk Tosun. Marco Silva is generally very consistent with his starting XI.
Gylfi Sigurdsson – The Icelandic playmaker has contributed seven goals and two assists in 17 appearances for the national team.
Richarlison – Scored the eighth goal of his Everton career, in 15 appearances, when he scored against
Lucas Digne – Scored the vital equaliser against Watford but will be more important at the other end against City’s in-form wide men, whichever end up playing.
Everton have won just one of their last five matches but it could have been even worse for the Toffees, who needed a dramatic late Lucas Digne equaliser to draw 2-2 with Watford last time out - Richarlison’s early opener having been cancelled out. Everton have won just one of their last five – Gylfi Sigurdsson scoring the winner against Cardiff – but also lost just once, which was the stoppage-time defeat to Everton.
