Team News

Michel has a number of players out for this match.  Right backs Roberto Rosales and Miguel Torres, center backs Weligton and Bakary Kone, midfielders Zdravko Kuzmanovic and Juanpi Anor, and striker Adalberto Penaranda all will miss out due to injury.

Key Man

Former Barcelona striker Sandro Ramirez has found himself a home, and he has produced for them of late in a very big way.  Two goals against Granada on Tuesday took his season total to 12 goals in La Liga.  The 21 year old joined on a free transfer last summer, and he has not disappointed in his performances at all thus far.  He even scored against his former side in that big win, so it would not be a surprise to see him use all of that pedigree and confidence to score against this Sevilla side on Monday night.  In the last five matches in which he has played and scored in, his side have gone on to win.  If he gets a goal, look for Malaga to sit on it and grind out a result.

Team Form

Malaga have four wins and a loss in their last five matches.  A 0-1 away win to Sporting Gijon was followed by an impressive 2-0 home win over Barcelona.  That was followed by a 2-0 loss away to Deportivo, but they didn't let it keep them down for too long as they won 2-0 at home to Valencia and then by the same score line away to Granada on Tuesday.

Expected Line-up: 4-2-3-1

Malaga likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Kameni

  • Defenders:Munoz, Llorente, Hernandez, Ricca

  • Defensive Midfielders:Recio, Camacho

  • Attacking Midfielders:Keko, Fornals, Juankar

  • Forwards:Ramirez

Team News

Jorge Sampaoli will be unable to use center back Adil Rami, left back Benoit Tremoulinas, right winger Vitolo, and left winger Michael Krohn-Dehli due to injuries.

Key Man

It's been quite the season for Sevilla as a number of players have stepped in at various times to see them climb toward the top of the table.  But the one ever-present has been center midfielder Vicente Iborra.  He had an assist on Thursday against Celta Vigo at home, taking that tally to two.  He's scored seven times in the league as well, which shows remarkable flexibility for a man that plays in the center of the park in a 'holding' midfield role in most occasions.  The 29 year old would be a key players in most national sides, but such is the talent of Spain that he will likely never get the call.  Expect him to be his usual consistent self away to Malaga.

Team Form

Sevilla have three wins, one draw, and one loss in their last five matches.  A 3-0 loss away to Barcelona had them scratching heads before they won 4-2 at home to Deportivo.  A 0-0 draw away to Valencia then followed.  They then won 2-0 at home to Granada before facing Celta Vigo on Thursday, and they won 2-1 against the ten men.

Expected Line-up: 4-2-3-1

Sevilla likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Rico

  • Defenders:Mariano, Pareja, Lenglet, Escudero

  • Defensive Midfielders:Iborra, N'Zonzi

  • Attacking Midfielders:Correa, Ganso, Sarabia

  • Forwards:Jovetic

Malaga will come into this match with quite a bit of confidence. It wasn\'t all that long ago that they came out of their home stadium with a very big 2-0 with over Barcelona. Since then, they have recorded two more wins to pull even further away from the lower echelons of the table. They can put themselves firmly in mid-table by finishing the season strongly. Sevilla, on the other hand, are in a race with Atletico for third place and automatic Champions League qualification. It was once almost a formality that they would get it, but now they have surrendered a big cushion and must fight for it. There is little room for error left, but they do have the luxury of only having this competition to worry about so they will be confident in edging it.
Sevilla have lost six matches this season, and five of those have come in away matches. This record, along with their recent form, gives Malaga hope of an upset win.
