Crystal Palace

Our Prediction Tip

Liverpool will win this match.

Crystal Palace are the last team to beat Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League, which they did in April 2017 – one of 14 wins in this fixture, compared to 27 Liverpool victories and 11 draws. Since that Palace victory, however, Liverpool have won three league matches and one friendly against the Eagles. Earlier this season, they scored late in each half through a James Milner penalty and Sadio Mane strike to win 2-0.

Here are the results of their last five competitive matches:

Aug 20, 2018: Crystal Palace 0-2 Liverpool

Mar 31, 2018: Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool

Aug 19, 2017: Liverpool 1-0 Crystal Palace

Apr 23, 2017: Liverpool 1-2 Crystal Palace

Oct 29, 2016: Crystal Palace 2-4 Liverpool

LFC vs CPFC Betting Tips

Liverpool got back to winning ways against Brighton last weekend in a match that was always going to be more important in terms of the result than the performance.

The Reds’ 1-0 win, courtesy of Mo Salah’s penalty, mean they are still four points clear at the top of the league with their Egyptian talisman back to goalscoring ways for good measures.

Roberto Firmino has also reached double figures for the season after his hat-trick against Arsenal and strike against Manchester City.

Liverpool’s worries are at the other end. They have been excellent defensively this season, but injuries to several defenders has hampered them slightly.

Against Crystal Palace, however, they should be able to cope comfortably. Palace put three past Manchester City at the Etihad before Christmas but that was a freak result – albeit one which could prove crucial in the title race this season.

Palace ordinarily have struggled for goals – leaving it very late in their last two wins as Jordan Ayew opened the scoring inside the final ten minutes.

At Anfield, against Liverpool’s free-flowing attack, they will not get away with leaving it so late – even if they do manage to breach Alisson’s defence.

Liverpool should make it back-to-back wins to ensure they wrestle back the momentum in the title race.

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool Recommended bets with odds

Liverpool are huge favourites to beat Crystal Palace, with Betfair, Ladbrokes, 10Bet and 888sport all offering 1/5 on a Reds win.

That does improve to 17/20 with Ladbrokes for Liverpool to win to nil, however, while betting against both teams to score is worth 4/6 with Bet365 and Ladbrokes.

Mo Salah got back to goalscoring ways last weekend and the Egyptian is 4/6 with Betway to score at any time. Roberto Firmino, meanwhile, is a generous 5/4.

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace Prediction

Liverpool had to get back to winning ways last weekend and did so. Now they need to back it up at home, where they have been unbeatable in the league since a Palace win in April 2017. The Reds should do so comfortably.

Correct Score Prediction: Liverpool 2-0 Crystal Palace

Liverpool Team News

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injury is the latest blow to Liverpool’s defence, who are already without Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren. Joel Matip was back on the bench last time out, however, as Fabinho deputised in central defence. Matip is likely to return this time, with Fabinho slotting back into midfield as James Milner fills in at right-back.

Liverpool Key Players

Mohamed Salah – His penalty against Brighton was the Egyptian’s 17th goal so far this season and he has also contributed eight assists.
Roberto Firmino – The Brazilian has ten for the season, including a hat-trick against Arsenal in their big win at the end of last month.
Virgil van Dijk – The Dutch defender has been a rock at the back – and needs to continue to be with several of his defensive partners suffering injuries of late.

Liverpool Team Form

Liverpool lost their first two games of 2019, having won all eight matches they played in December, but got back to winning ways in Brighton last time out. Mo Salah’s penalty proved enough to earn a 1-0 victory, putting 2-1 losses to Wolves in the FA Cup and title rivals Manchester City in the Premier League behind them. Divock Origi scored Liverpool’s goal in the former, while Roberto Firmino netted in the latter.

Liverpool Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-3-3

Crystal Palace Team News

Vicente Guaita is out after being injured against Watford and both he and fellow goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey (thigh) are injury concerns. The Welsh goalkeeper replaced Guaita at half-time but suffered a thigh injury. It could mean a rare start for veteran stopper Julian Speroni. Palace’s injury problems have otherwise eased, however – only Pape Souare (dislocated shoulder) is still sidelined alongside the keepers.

Crystal Palace Key Players

Jordan Ayew – Scored late goals in the wins against Wolves and Grimsby to prove Palace’s attacking options extend beyond just Wilfred Zaha
Luka Milivojevic – Reliable from the spot and has managed six goals so far this season as a result, including a penalty in the recent win against Wolves.
Mamadou Sakho – Rated by French boss Didier Deschamps, a big performance against his former team could go a long way to justifying that.

Crystal Palace Team Form

Crystal Palace started 2019 with two wins, beating Wolves 2-0 away in the Premier League before a 1-0 FA Cup win against League Two Grimsby Town. Jordan Ayew scored late goals in both wins, while Luka Milivojevic also netted against Wolves. That was followed by a 2-1 defeat to Watford last time out, however, despite an own goal having given the Eagles a half-time lead at home.

Crystal Palace Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-4-2

Liverpool negotiated a potentially tricky tie with Brighton & Hove Albion to get back to winning ways and keep their title bid on track after two defeats. They must now keep that up against Crystal Palace, who have already proved they should not be written off by winning at Manchester City - though another shock away win for Palace looks unlikely.
Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 31 home games in the Premier League, since a defeat to Crystal Palace in April 2017.
