Jamaica vs Canada Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Jamaica are at 19/10 to win, a draw is at 2/1, and a Canada win is at 8/5.

This is a very tough call, and there is a reason why they are essentially as part of a 'pick-em' game.  Either side could win this match.

Both sides play extremely well in the Gold Cup, in comparison to how well they play in World Cup Qualifying.  Canada have won the tournament before, though it was 17 years ago, and Jamaica come off a final run last time.

Both sides are also unbeaten in the tournament so far, showing that they are hard to cut through.  There is a big argument to be made on both sides, and there isn't a poor bet here in this instance as a result of that.

Both teams to score has been set at 6/5 for yes and 8/13 for no.  This one is kind of surprising to us.  Canada have been involved in quite a few goals in the tournament so far, with the exception of the 0-0 match on the final day of the group.  However, we expect both teams to score in this one now that all the chips are on the line and a draw is no longer acceptable to move on.

Jamaica vs Canada Prediction

If made to choose a winner from this ridiculously close tie, Canada look the side to do it.  There is just something different about them, and they have that midfield man that can make all the difference at the end of the day.

Correct Score Prediction: Jamaica 1-2 Canada

Team News

Winfried Schafer has not made any changes to his Reggae Boyz side after the group stages.

Key Man

There is a lot of pace and strength in this Jamaican side, and one such man that brings plenty of that is wide midfielder Oneil Fisher.  The Seattle Sounders man can also play in defence, but for his nation he is used a bustling midfielder capable of changing matches.  Jamaica aren't the best finesse team, but they can beat you with sheer speed and power, and he's one such man that can set them up for victory.

Team Form

Jamaica have three draws, a win, and a loss in their last five matches.  They made the tournament because of their performances in the Caribbean Cup.  They drew 1-1 before winning on penalties against French Guiana before falling 1-2 to Curacao.  In the first match of the Gold Cup, they gained revenge on Curacao by winning 0-2.  They then earned a hard-fought point against Mexico in a 0-0 draw before finishing second in the group with a 1-1 draw against El Salvador in the final match of the group.

Jamaica Predicted Starting Line-up

Expected Line-up: 4-4-2

Jamaica likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Blake

  • Defenders:Powell, Taylor, Lowe, Lawrence

  • Midfielders:Watson, Lambert, Fisher, Burke

  • Forwards:Mattocks, Williams

Team News

Octavio Zambrano has only switched out one player from the group stage.  Midfielder Raheem Edwards has left the squad, and striker Cyle Larin has come into the side.  Zambrano now has two heavy hitters up front to call upon, as well as having a solid third option.

Key Man

The strikers might always grab the headlines, but the play of midfielder Scott Arfield cannot be overlooked.  The Burnley man has been fantastic in this tournament, driving forward with surging runs, scoring goals, and most importantly, making key passes at crucial times.  That's what his side need in order to get good chances and looks at goal, and he provides just that and more to them.

Team Form

Canada have three draws and two wins in their last five matches.  They drew away to Scotland 1-1 and won 2-1 at home over Curacao in friendlies ahead of the tournament.  In the first match, they got off to a good start with a 2-4 win against French Guiana.  They followed it with a 1-1 result against Costa Rica, and then clinched second place with a 0-0 draw against Honduras.

Canada Predicted Starting Line-up

Expected Line-up: 4-3-3

Canada likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Borjan

  • Defenders:Petrasso, Vitoria, James, Adekugbe

  • Midfielders:Piette, Arfield, Osorio

  • Forwards:Hoilett, Davies, Larin

Jamaica and Canada each boast an impressive resume of five points from their three group matches, with both getting a draw against one of the tournament\'s heavy hitters. Jamaica got theirs from Mexico, Canada got its draw with Costa Rica. Both teams have shown that they have what it takes to be a tough out, and that is going to be the case here. In the past, these teams have been tough to separate, and that should prove to be the case in this one. However, Canada have a midfield dynamo to call upon, and that might just prove to be the difference maker.
In six total matches in the group stage, neither side were beaten.
