Last year’s two matches, which both ended in West Ham wins, were the first between these two teams since they met in the League Cup in 1997 and the first in the league since 1972. At the London Stadium, West Ham won last year’s match 2-0 thanks to goals from Pedro Obiang and Andre Ayew. It was even more convincing at Huddersfield, meanwhile, as Mark Noble, Marko Arnautovic and two Manuel Lanzini goals earned a 4-1 away win – Joe Lolley scoring the one for the Terriers.

Huddersfield might have earned a rare win on Monday night but there is no hiding the fact this has been a poor season for the Terriers.
Expected to struggle, they have been too defensive and yet not kept out many goals either - while hardly scoring at all.
The goal on Monday night, later credited as an own goal, was their first at home in the league since April which perfectly encapsulates exactly why they were struggling.
Terence Kongolo’s return is a boost at the back, and helped inspire the clean sheet on Monday night, but that was against a struggling Fulham team.
West Ham are in better shape than Fulham – even if they only ended a four-match winless run last time out.
Marko Arnautovic scored his fifth goal of the season, while Felipe Anderson’s double takes him to three as he continues to settle into Premier League football.
With those two firing, the absence of Andy Carroll, Manuel Lanzini and Andriy Yarmolenko will be less keenly felt.
Mark Noble’s absence, combined with Jack Wilshere’s injury, does weaken them in the middle but the question is whether Huddersfield have the resources to combat that.
The Hammers hit four last time out, and if they can grab an early goal at goal-shy Huddersfield, they should back that win up with another comfortable victory.
It is difficult to back Huddersfield in their current form and West Ham are favourites for this one - albeit at a generous price, such as the 13/10 Betfair, Betway and 10Bet are offering on an away win.
The Terriers lack of goals means it might be worth upgrading that 5/2 with Ladbrokes on West Ham to win to nil.

Marko Arnautovic scored his fifth goal of the season last weekend, and the Austrian is 13/8 to score at any time.
Huddersfield are enduring a difficult season, even if some clouds lifted with the defeat of Fulham last time out. West Ham, who won last weekend, can make it two wins a row.
Erik Durm and Danny Williams are Huddersfield’s only injury absentees with groin and knee injuries respectively. They may well be unchanged for the game against West Ham, therefore, with Terence Kongolo and Steve Mounie having returned to the starting line-up for that game.
Jonas Lossl – The Danish keeper needs to keep West Ham out if Huddersfield continue to struggle at the other end of the pitch.
Steve Mounie – The big striker was back in the starting line-up in the win against Fulham and will hope for a run in the team now.
Terence Kongolo – The defender’s importance showed as he helped the Terriers stay up at the end of last season and it is no coincidence his return led to victory last time out too.
Huddersfield’s first home goal of the season – given as a Timothy Fosu-Mensah own goal – also earned their first win of the campaign as they defeated Fulham 1-0 on Monday night. They had previously gone 11 games this season without a win in all competitions, including the 1-0 home defeat to Liverpool and 3-0 away loss to Watford which preceded last Monday’s overdue success.
While Jack Wilshere and Andy Carroll could return after the forthcoming international break they remain sidelined for now – two of six players out for the Hammers. Carlos Sanchez and Andriy Yarmolenko will not feature until April at least, while Winston Reid and Manuel Lanzini are also out until the new year. Mark Noble serves the final game of his three-match ban after being sent off at Leicester.
Marko Arnautovic – Austrian striker took his tally to five goals in ten games by scoring against Burnley last time out.
Felipe Anderson – Club-record signing added his second and third goals of the season in the win against Burnley, and he also has two assists.
Javier Hernandez – His goal against Burnley was the 17th he has scored as a substitute in the Premier League - he won’t start, but he can certainly make an impact coming on.
Victory at home to Burnley last time out ended a four-match winless run, which had also included defeats to rivals Spurs in the Premier League and Carabao Cup. The 1-0 loss to Spurs in October followed a defeat by the same scoreline at Brighton, while the 1-1 draw with Leicester in which Fabian Balbuena opened the scoring before a late equaliser continued that winless streak – though the result was obviously overshadowed by Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha’s death. West Ham then lost 3-1 in the Carabao Cup to Spurs, despite Lucas Perez’s goal, but bounced back as Marko Arnautovic, two from Felipe Anderson and Javier Hernandez’s late strike earned a 4-2 win at home to Burnley.
