This will be Getafe and Basel’s first European meeting. Getafe did face Swiss opposition when they last in Europe, however – beating Young Boys 1-0 at home but losing 2-0 away in the 2010-11 Europa League group stage.
Basel have the greater European stock than Getafe, who back in the competition for the first time in a decade, and yet the Spanish side could find themselves five points clear at the top of the group by the end of this game.
They have won two from two so far, with Angel leading the way with all three Getafe goals, and their excellent home record means they could make it three in a row.
Only Barcelona have won at Getafe this season, with the hosts building from a platform of excellent home form.
Angel will start, having been a supersub with two goals at the weekend, and likewise Kenedy who stepped off the bench to set up the first of those goals.
They have needed some second-half inspiration in recent matches, but they know they have made their home fortress a difficult place to come and get points.
Basel are not helped by a lengthening injury list too, with Kemal Ademi and Noah Okafor two of the more notable recent additions to that injury list.
It all points to Getafe being able to claim all three points in this game, which would put them in a commanding position in the group after just three matches.

Angel and Kenedy both stepped off the bench as Getafe beat Leganes at the weekend and both men are surely in line to start against Basel. David Timor’s two yellow cards against Krasnodar means he will miss out. He was replaced at the weekend by Mauro Arambarri anyway.
Angel – The striker has scored all three of Getafe’s goals in the Europa League so far this season and comes into this game on the back of a league brace against Leganes.
Kenedy – Set up the first of those two goals against Krasnodar and stepped off the bench to do the same against Leganes too.
Jaime Mata – Scored 14 goals in his debut La Liga season with Getafe last season and has four so far this season, including in the win against Real Sociedad.
Getafe have bounced back from a rare home defeat, against Barcelona, with three wins in a row. Angel scored twice in a 2-1 win against Krasnodar in their most recent Europa League game, and he scored twice more at the weekend in a 2-0 victory against Leganes. In between, Jaime Mata and Nemanja Maksimovic scored as they came from behind to beat ten-man Real Sociedad 2-1.
Noah Okafor, who rescued a point against Trabzonspor, is out with a hamstring injury, while Kemal Ademi, Zdravko Kuzmanovic and Tician Tushi have all joined the injury list since. It means Arthur Cabral will start up front, with Luca Zuffi just off him.
Arthur Cabral – The 21-year-old Brazilian forward looks a useful talent for Basel, having scored three times across the wins against Zurich and Luzern at the end of last month.
Luca Zuffi – Playing just off the striker, he sealed victory against Thun at the weekend with just his second goal of the season.
Taulant Xhaka – Brother of Arsenal’s Swiss international Granit, the midfielder is an important shield to the back four at the base of the midfield.
Basel are unbeaten in their last 11 games in all competitions, getting back to winning ways after two draws with a 3-1 win against Thun last time out. Kevin Bua, an own goal and Luca Zuffi’s strike kept Basel top of the Swiss Super League. It followed a goalless draw at St Gallen before the international break, which in turn followed a 2-2 draw with Trabzonspor in this competition. Silvan Widmer but Basel in front, but it took a late Noah Okafor equaliser to rescue a point.
