Germany U-21
VS
Spain U-21

Our Prediction Tip

Spain U-21 will win this match.

These sides have met three times in head to head battles at this age group.  Germany, ominously, have no wins in those three matches.  They have dropped two of those results to Spain, while drawing the other meeting.  Perhaps the most worrying thing is the fact that they have yet to score in this match up.  Here is a closer look at those results:

Mar 4, 2014: Spain 2-0 Germany (Friendly)
Jun 9, 2013: Germany 0-1 Spain (U-21 Euro)
Jun 15, 2009: Spain 0-0 Germany (U-21 Euro)

Germany U21 vs Spain U21 Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Germany are at 3/1 to win, a draw is at 11/4, and a Spain win is at 5/6.

A Spain win, while not getting you much money, looks very likely here due to how well they are playing right now.  Their midfield and front line look so mature and developed, and it's hard to see Germany matching that.  But Germany are typically big match players, so there is an argument to be made there for them.

A scoreline of 1-3 in favor Spain could bring you 14/1 odds.  Spain are very good in front of goal, and they have shown themselves to be great at counterattacking in this tournament.  If Germany need a goal late, they can be and probably will be caught out.  And it's also difficult to see Germany, with all of its might, being held completely goalless.

To lift the trophy at the end of the match, including any possible outcome, Germany are at 7/4 and Spain are at 4/9.  Once again, it's hard to pick against Spain in this instance as they have just been very strong.  Germany lost to common opponents Italy, and they also had a real fight from England.  This is a definite step up in terms of quality.

Germany U21 vs Spain U21 Prediction

Spain are looking like the side of destiny in this tournament, not because of calls or luck, but just because they are the best team in it and always capable of scoring goals.  As a result, it's hard to see Germany keeping pace.

Correct Score Prediction: Germany 1-3 Spain

Team News

Stefan Kuntz's biggest worry ahead of this final will be over the fitness of leading goal scorer (two) Davie Selke.  The big man scored the opener on Tuesday with a towering header, but he was forced off after 63 minutes against England.  Without him, Germany look even more vulnerable.  Mahmoud Dahoud did not play in the match, but he will surely be pushing for a recall in this match as Germany look for players to keep hold of possession when they can.

Key Man

After leading Germany to nearly winning the Olympic Gold Medal last summer by scoring the most goals, Bayern Munich new boy Serge Gnabry will not want to again taste defeat in a final.  The 21 year old winger moved on from Arsenal to Werder Bremen, and earned his move to Bayern due to his performances in helping the side stay up.  His 11 goals were huge for them, and he can be the biggest threat in the German side as they face this very tough Spain U21 team.

Team Form

Germany have a draw, two losses, and two wins in their last five matches.  Before the beginning of this tournament, they lost 0-1 at home to Portugal.  They started the Championship well with a 2-0 win over the Czech Republic and they looked to be cruising toward a group win when they beat Denmark 3-0.  But a 1-0 loss to Italy saw them finish second, however, they were able to go through as group winners in the end.  On Tuesday in the semi-finals against England, they drew 2-2 after extra time, so penalties were needed.  They won 5-6, of course, as they usually do in those situations to move to this final.

Team News

Albert Celades had a well-rested team coming into the semi-finals, but they won't have quite that luxury in the final.  However, the Spanish manager will have little to worry about other than how to tell certain players that they will not be playing a role in the final.  Look for Celades to leave what's brought him to the dance alone as they seek another trophy to add to the collection.

Key Man

If you want beautiful, big goals in huge matches, you better call Saul.  The Atletico Madrid man has showed in the past that he has what it takes to score game changing goals, and he did that to great effect once again against Italy in the semi-finals when he scored two absolute beauties and one very well finished effort to complete his hat trick.  This man will move for big money one day, you'd assume, and there is no debating why.  He could very well be the difference here in this match, as he has been all tournament long for Spain.

Team Form

Spain have won each of their last five matches heading into this final.  They won away to Italy 1-2 back in March to prepare.  They began the tournament with a 5-0 thumping of Macedonia, and then followed it with a 1-3 win over Iberian rivals Portugal that effectively ended the hopes of last edition's runner-ups.  They then saw off a tough Serbia side 0-1 in the final match of the group stage that saw them come through in first position.  In the semi-finals on Tuesday, they forged a way over the line in a 3-1 win over Italy.

Germany clearly have it all to do on Friday when they come into Krakow to face Spain. Most of the time, you would be calling any match between these sides as a dead heat. But there is a clear gap in quality here. That doesn\'t mean much, though to be fair, when it comes to a one-off tie. But surely the plethora of young talent from big clubs will be enough to see Spain over the line in this final over the Germans. It will not be easy, but they definitely have all of the players to get the result they are seeking to achieve when they final whistle blows.
Germany have not beaten Spain in a cup competition in either this tournament or any senior tournaments since 1994.
