Manchester City have won 31 of their 60 matches against Crystal Palace, but the most recent meeting saw Palace earn their 16th win in this fixture. In fact, after a seven-match winning streak against Palace, City have taken just one point from the two games since. Luka Milivojevic missed a late penalty in a goalless draw on New Year’s Eve last season, while Palace won 3-2 at the Etihad when they last met this season. Ilkay Gundogan opened the scoring for the hosts but Jeffrey Schlupp, Andros Townsend and Milivojevic gave Palace a 3-1 lead. Manchester City are big favourites to beat Crystal Palace and rightly so given their form in 2019 – albeit having lost in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
They may have lost to Crystal Palace already this season, just before Christmas, but since the turn of the year they have lost just one domestic game – and won every other match they have played until the Spurs defeat.
City have seen that Liverpool are offering no let-up in the title race, overcoming some tricky situations to match Pep Guardiola’s side blow for blow, and the Blues know any slip up could prove costly.
They will have Kevin de Bruyne and Leroy Sane back, however, while Benjamin Mendy could also return at wing back.
All three can unpick what at times has proved a tricky Palace defence to beat.
Luka Milivojevic’s penalties have made a big difference for Palace and he scored in the reverse fixture at the Etihad.
But City have kept three domestic clean sheets in a row and another at Selhurst Park – where they have kept back-to-back clean sheets in their last two matches – could be key.
Liverpool have found a way to win when they have not been at their best and now City must do the same – any will do, and a 1-0 victory will taste just as sweet as any other for Guardiola’s side.

James Tomkins suffered a groin injury in the win at Newcastle and is set to miss the match against Manchester City. That would mean a return for Scott Dann, who damaged his knee ligaments in this fixture last season, with Mamadou Sakho also currently sidelined. Max Meyer is fighting to overcome his illness to play.

Their most recent home game saw them consign Huddersfield to relegation with a 2-0 win – Luka Milivojevic and Patrick van Aanholt scoring. A 2-0 defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium followed, but Palace got back to winning ways when another Milivojevic penalty proved the only goal of the game at Newcastle.
After Kevin de Bruyne and Leroy Sane only featured as late substitutes in the Champions League, both could return to the starting line-up to face Crystal Palace. Benjamin Mendy is fit again, and played in the FA Cup semi-final, and could also start, but Bernardo Silva and Oleksandr Zinchenko may not be risked before the Champions League quarter-final second leg.
Sergio Aguero – After missing a penalty against Tottenham in the Champions League, City’s top scorer will want to get straight back to goalscoring ways.

Spurs’ goal was the first City had conceded the international break, having beaten Fulham and Cardiff 2-0 in the league and Brighton 1-0 in the FA Cup semi-final.
