Chelsea are at 7/10, a draw is at 29/10, and Leicester are at 15/4.
Chelsea did not get off the kind of start to the PL season they would have wanted when they fell 4-0 at Old Trafford against Manchester United, but the score line isn’t indicative of how they played. They bounced back with a fine showing in Istanbul against Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup, but their lack of experience ultimately saw them come undone. There’s still going to be doubts about them due to their youth and the fact they didn’t get to sign many players, but they definitely reminded us all that they are no pushovers against the Reds.
Leicester won’t be overjoyed by the draw they collected at home to Wolves on opening day last Sunday, but they also won’t be disgusted by it, either. The Foxes are a strong team that has only gotten better under Rodgers, making some signings that show real intent to move onward and upward. They have a plan about them and players hungry enough for the job, and that says a whole lot and could just see them finish much higher than many would have thought. Possibly higher than the Blues come season’s end?
Vardy scoring first or last, via Ladbrokes, is at 9/2.
Both teams scoring is at Betfair for 1.86 odds.
The tide looks to be firmly in Leicester’s corner at the moment. Chelsea have a small-ish squad full of young players, and some of their best and brightest are either injured or not fully fit. The Foxes make them pay for those things as they capitalize on their tired legs.
Frank Lampard has a number of players out at the moment, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi being the main two they are missing. After such a taxing 120 minutes of play against Liverpool, he’ll need to be wise and rotate a little here, meaning their could be more changes made.
There was a ton of criticism of the positioning of N’Golo Kante last season, but there is no doubt that the influence of Sarri upon him has made him a more dynamic player in the attack, making him a double-pronged threat that will give headaches. His return totally changed the Blues and gave them a chance against the Reds few saw beforehand. Out wide, new boy Christian Pulisic enjoyed a fine showing in Istanbul, helping Giroud with an assist on the first goal and only being narrowly denied a goal via the offside flag. That’ll encourage his fans greatly.
Chelsea have two draws, a loss, and two wins in their last five matches:
2-2 draw, penalty loss vs Liverpool (UEFA Super Cup)
4-0 loss at Manchester United
2-2 draw vs Borussia Monchengladbach (Fri)
3-5 win vs RB Salzburg (Fri)
3-4 win vs Reading (Fri)
Brendan Rodgers has a fully intact squad for this match, making him a fairly lucky manager, even for the early season.
There is no secret about it: Jamie Vardy loves playing against the top sides. For some reason, the Englishman has always thrived against them, and his goal last season at Stamford Bridge was the winner. He also scored against them in the FA Cup loss, showing he’s got an eye for goal against this opposition. Giving the Foxes a new dimension is Ayoze Perez, the former Newcastle man. The Spaniard comes off his finest PL season to date and can be that unpredictable man to help them over the line.

0-0 home draw vs Wolves
2-1 win vs Atalanta (Fri)
2-2 draw vs Rotherham (Fri)
