Chelsea VS Aston Villa Match Prediction

Chelsea will win this match.
Prior to their relegation in 2016, Aston Villa had lost eight of their nine previous matches against Chelsea. That included an 8-0 defeat just before Christmas in 2012 and, in their most recent Premier League season before this one, a 2-0 away defeat and 4-0 home loss. Ruben Loftus-Cheek opened the scoring in latter, and Pedro added two second-half goals with Alexandre Pato the Blues’ other goalscorer.
Chelsea’s fine form has hit the buffers in recent weeks, with defeats to Manchester City and West Ham seeing them slip back to fourth in the table.
Aston Villa, on the other hand, have consolidated with four points from two games – including a draw at out-of-sorts Manchester United.
Frank Lampard’s side remain favourites for this one, as his young side looks to get back to winning ways and back on track.
Tammy Abraham’s injury is a blow, and he looks set to miss out against his former loan club, but the Blues are still packed with attacking talent.
From the weekend, players like N’Golo Kante, Willian and Michy Batshuayi could come into the starting line-up – all of whom would strengthen the team that lost to West Ham.
Villa have their own injury concerns to deal with, with Anwar El Ghazi likely to miss out, but they remain strong at the back.
Manchester United managed two goals at the weekend, however, and Chelsea will expect to have too much too.
The Blues’ form has dipped, but this – given their home advantage – is a good chance to get back on track.
Chelsea are big favourites to beat Aston Villa but can be backed at a best price of 3/10 to win with Betfair.
Both teams to score is set at 8/11 with Ladbrokes, Betfair, Paddy Power and Betway.
Over 2.5 goals, meanwhile, will return a best price of 7/15 with Betfair.
With Tammy Abraham possibly missing out injured, Michy Batshuayi is a best price of 19/20 to score at any time. Christian Pulisic can be backed at 31/20.
Chelsea were in excellent form until their recent defeats but this looks an excellent chance to get back on track.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Antonio Rudiger and Ross Barkley are definitely out, and Tammy Abraham may also miss out against the team he was on loan with last season. The in-form England striker suffered a hip injury against Valencia and missed out last weekend. Olivier Giroud started in his place at the weekend, but Michy Batshuayi and Callum Hudson-Odoi are other options for this game. N’Golo Kante and Willian could start too, having been benched at the weekend.
Christian Pulisic – After being forced to remain patient earlier in the campaign, the rising American star delivered on his potential with six goals in his last eight games.
Mason Mount – The 20-year-old playmaker has gone off the boil in recent weeks, but he does have four goals and an assist so far this season.
Michy Batshuayi – No goals in November after scoring in every game he played for club and country in October but Tammy Abraham’s injury gives him another chance.
Chelsea are winless since the international break, losing league games to Manchester City and West Ham and drawing in the Champions League at Valencia. N’Golo Kante gave Chelsea the lead against City but they lost 2-1, while they also lost a lead – having come from 1-0 down thanks to Mateo Kovacic and Christian Pulisic – in the draw in Spain. Last weekend, they lost 1-0 to West Ham.
Keinan Davis is back in training but still a few weeks from fitness, while Jota Peleteiro is closing in on a return too. Frederic Guilbert will miss out this weekend due to suspension and Anwar El Ghazi is a doubt with a knee injury picked up in the draw with Manchester United.
Jack Grealish – Scored the opener at Old Trafford last time out to continue a strong season on his return to the top flight.
Tyrone Mings – His equaliser at the weekend was another example of why Aston Villa were so keen to sign him up in the summer.
Trezeguet – Started last month with back-to-back goals in 2-1 defeats to Aston Villa and Wolves and the Egyptian will want a similar impact in December.
Aston Villa have taken four points from two games since the international break. Dean Smith’s side won 2-0 at home to Newcastle, with Conor Hourihane and Anwar El Ghazi scoring. At Old Trafford, meanwhile, Jack Grealish put Villa in front and Tyrone Mings’ equaliser earned a point after United had hit back.
