This is only the fourth Premier League season in which both Aston Villa and Watford have featured and their first 2016. Watford thrashed Villa in their first meeting of the campaign, at Vicarage Road, as Troy Deeney scored twice and Ismaila Sarr netted the third in a 3-0 home win.
Watford’s resurgent form was typified by their convincing win last time they faced Aston Villa and this is a big chance for the Hornets to pull away from the relegation zone.
A win will lift them four points clear of Villa, while defeat will put them back into the bottom three and halt their recent momentum.
Last time they faced a relegation six-pointer, however, they beat Bournemouth 3-0 away from home, and another clean sheet in the draw with Tottenham last weekend should boost confidence further.
