Football rumors to look for 2016

Football transfer Scoop makes news with Euro & Copa America pacing up

Despite Euro 2016 and Copa America both being in full flow, the transfer merry-go-round continues to spin as teams look to strengthen their squads ahead of the new domestic season.

The arrival of Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola to Manchester United and Manchester City looks set to dominate the Premier League over the next few years, but which players will they buy?

Juventus have won five Serie A titles in a row but the vultures are circling for stars such as Leonardo Bonucci and Paul Pogba, while in the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund are facing a ferocious fight to hold on to both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

What are the top transfer rumours for summer 2016 and how likely are they to happen?

Gonzalo Higuain to Atletico Madrid

Gonzalo Higuain was linked with Arsenal last summer and the Napoli striker is reportedly a transfer target for Atletico Madrid this time round.

Higuain had a fantastic season in Serie A despite his side's title charge losing momentum in the closing weeks of the campaign, with the Argentina star scoring 36 goals in just 35 league games.

Diego Simeone sees Higuain as the missing piece in the puzzle to help Atletico to compete in both La Liga and the Champions League, with Fernando Torres now 32 and his powers fading.

Higuain and Antoine Griezmann could form an incredible strike partnership at the Vicente Calderon, but it would take a huge offer to tempt Napoli to sell their star man, with a fee of £60 million mooted.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Manchester City

Borussia Dortmund have already lost their captain and defensive leader Mats Hummels to domestic rivals Bayern Munich and they now face a bloody battle to hold on to their star striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is reportedly wanted by Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola has apparently made Aubameyang his number one striker target to add support for the injury-prone Sergio Aguero and if he could pair the two players at the Etihad Stadium they would be undoubtedly the speediest attack on the planet.

However, Dortmund are believed to want in the region of £60 million for Aubameyang and City have already spent big money on bringing midfielder Ilkay Gundogan to the club - also from BVB.

N'Golo Kante to Real Madrid

N'Golo Kante had a superb season last year as his dominant midfield performances helped Leicester City to claim a surprise Premier League title, but a release clause in his contract means he could be moving on for a fee of around £20 million this summer.

Zinedine Zidane is an admirer of his fellow Frenchman and Kante would add class in Real Madrid's midfield ranks, with Casemiro the only defensive-minded player among Zizou's options.

But Leicester will be determined to hold on to Kante and the new Premier League television deal means they could offer him a gigantic pay rise in a bid to get the 25-year-old to stay at the club.

Likelihood rating: 7/10

Paul Pogba to Manchester United

Paul Pogba was released by Manchester United as a teenager, but a known admirer of the player, new manager Jose Mourinho, is keen to bring him back to Old Trafford.

\"\"

Pogba has won Serie A every year he has been with Juventus so far, but he may see United as a better route to Champions League glory - plus he has plenty to prove to the club.

However, Juventus are demanding in excess of £100 million for their star man, which perhaps means only Real Madrid would be able and willing to pay the fee demanded.

Pogba is currently in France with his national team at Euro 2016, so it is unlikely that any deal for him would be completed before the end of the tournament, with the final set to take place on July 10 in Paris.
