Know the Teams in Quarterfinal of the Soccer Centenario!

One of the most thrilling Soccer galas of 2016, Copa America has already kicked off into its Second Week. The Centenario has so far been an incredible tournament witnessing nations from CONCACAF (6 teams) and CONMEBOL (10 teams) fighting it out on the field to bring home the title trophy.

For the beginners, here is a quick insight into some of the facts coming straight out of the Copa America books to know the event better. 

Fact 1: It is the first ever clash that has been scheduled to be held outside of South America. 16 teams are set to compete for the ultimate title. 
Fact 2: The tournament completes 100 years this time around, thus earning it the stature of being the oldest international continental competition in the history of the game of football
Fact 3: In total, 32 games have been scheduled across 10 U. S. cities, over a period of 24 days from June 3 to 26. 

As of now, the tournament is already in progress, and some of the weakling teams have been knocked out of the group stages. For those, who are yet unknown to what's happening around in the Copa America 2016, here we put together information on distribution of groups, the teams we expect to outshine the rest and the top football players as seen by the experts of the game. Group A: USA, Colombia, Costa Rica, Paraguay 
Group B: Brazil, Ecuador, Peru and Haiti
Group C: Mexico, Uruguay, Jamaica, Venezuela  
Group D: Argentina, Chile, Panama and Bolivia 

That was the line-up of teams at the start of the tournament; right now seven teams have already entered the Quarterfinals namely- USA, Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela and Argentina. All of these teams have performed exceptionally well in their group stage matches, and one of them might just be the champion. However, we cannot leave behind the one team left behind that will be playing in the decider game. Out of these teams, those four teams that qualify will proceed further in the game. These teams and their line-up of matches are detailed in the following text.

  • Mexico vs Venezuela and Uruguay vs Jamaica on June 13, 2016
  • Chile vs Panama and Argentina vs Bolivia on June 14, 2016

Winners of these matches will be headed a step further in the quarterfinals of Copa America 2016 beginning June 16, 2016. 

Both Venezuela and Mexico are through to the quarterfinals, but what is still undecided is their position as both remain on tie mathematically at 6 points each. The Monday night's game will determine their ranks. As for the group D, Argentina has entered the quarterfinals and one of the two teams, Chile and Panama will eventually join them the side after clash on Tuesday night.

Quarterfinal 1: US vs Ecuador 

US is the current favorite when it comes to prediction of winner primarily because they are playing the basics right, and of course the advantage of being the home team is always an edge. This Copa quarter event at CenturyLink Field is expected to witness a lot of action as both the teams are in top of their forms. Ecuador is a solid team, ranked 13th even by FIFA. However, it's a fact known to any football enthusiast that they have always found it difficult to get past U.S in their recent outings. Ecuador entered quarter after a convincing win over Haiti in Sunday’s game by 4-0. It's been after a very long time that US has come out as a strong team that could even emerge out of the group stages. 

Therefore, they are expected to make the opportunity count and thus, leading as the expert favorites.

Quarterfinal 2: Peru vs Colombia 

Before the tournament was unleashed, the team Peru was counted amongst minnows. There is no denying the fact that the team is in a process to achieving excellence. However, above all odds, Ricardo Gareca's men have done a pretty good job as now they are being tipped as the top contenders. After having defeated Brazil, they are through to the quarters and that is in itself a big achievement. Coach Jose Pekerman puts a lot of thought into the game and this time around, the game is expected to be no different either.

Whosoever plays the best football on these days earns for itself a spot in the finale. While the rest of the two teams will fight it out to earn third rank in the Copa America 2016 tournament that has created quite a buzz World over.

Final of Copa America 2016- The venue has been set for finale. It will be a grand event where you could expect a lot of fanfare and celebration.
