Ecuador vs Colombia Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Ecuador are at 11/10 to win, a draw is at 23/10, and a Colombia win is at 5/2.

Both teams to score is set at 10/11 for both yes and no.

A 1-0 win for Ecuador here could bring you 11/1 odds if correct.

Reason: Colombia has had the better of the head to head, but the bookmakers are leaning toward Ecuador because it is very difficult to win matches on the road in CONMEBOL play.

Team News

Gustavo Quinteros will be faced with this question of whether to change his side after the loss or stick to it against Colombia on Tuesday.  He's most likely to stick with the majority of his players, as they just don't have that much in the way of good replacements, but he may change out a couple.

Key Man

Manchester United's Antonio Valencia has seen his role change a number of times in his club career, but no matter what he's asked to do with his national side, he's still expected to lead them in a big way.  The 31 year old can play anywhere on the right wing, and he's a great crosser of the ball.  This makes Ecuador a threat against anyone because he is just so quick and good with his delivery.  He's earned 88 caps already, so he is definitely a player that can be looked to when the going gets tough.

Team Form

Ecuador have two losses, two wins, and one draw in their last five qualifiers.  They lost 2-1 at Paraguay on Thursday to seriously hurt their chances.

Expected Line-up: 5-3-2

Ecuador likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Dreer

  • Defenders:A.Valencia, Caicedo, Mina, Ayovi, Paredes

  • Midfielders:Bolanos, Noboa, Orejuela

  • Striker:Caicedo, E. Valencia

Team News

Jose Pekerman will most likely be unable to use winger Luis Muriel after he left the match against Bolivia early due to injury.  It will be interesting to see if he decides to stick with his men as well, because they were pretty dreadful in victory against Bolivia.

Key Man

The one true mega star, albeit a seemingly fading one at the moment, on this Colombian side is James Rodriguez.  The Real Madrid man earned his move to the Spanish capital due to his performances in the 2014 World Cup, but he's not playing nearly well enough right now to help push his side towards the next one in Russia.  If his play doesn't improve, then his teammates are going to have a hard time helping get them across the line.  We know he's capable of the nearly impossible, so they will be hoping he produces one of those moments in this match.

Team Form

Colombia have one win, two losses, and two draws in their last five qualifiers.  They got back to winning ways on Thursday with an unconvincing 1-0 win over Bolivia at home.

Expected Line-up: 4-3-3

Colombia likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Ospina

  • Defenders:Cuadrado, Zapata, Mina, Armero

  • Midfielders:Sanchez, Uribe, Torres

  • Striker:Quinones, Rodriguez, Bacca

Colombians will be very worried at the moment because of how poorly their side are playing. Before Thursday\'s match against lowly Bolivia, they hadn\'t won any of their last four matches. And they just barely scraped by against the Bolivians at home, no less. This should make Ecuador the favorites here, despite them being in not-so-great form themselves. They do have a bit of an advantage being at elevation here, so you have to like their chances in this match to get closer toward Russia.
83- the number of minutes that it took the Colombians to register their winner against Bolivia. James Rodriguez had seen his penalty kick saved only to turn it into the net. That kind of performance will do little to ease the minds of their supporters, however.
