Denmark’s improvement through 2017 climaxed with their comprehensive win against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin which booked their place at the World Cup.
Now, they will be looking to step up their preparations for the tournament against surprise qualifiers for Russia, Panama.
Denmark will do so with a team built around Christian Eriksen - the Tottenham playmaker scored a hat-trick in Dublin, while he also netted in the Danes' most recent game in Brondby.
Panama will have to stop Eriksen if they want to get anything out of this game, and they certainly have an experienced line-up.
But experience of international football does not equate to experience of big tournament build-ups and, with this the last chance to look at players before provisional World Cup squads are named, Panama are in a highly unusual position.
They may have drawn with Wales last time out, but Denmark are a different kettle of fish - they are going to the World Cup, unlike the Welsh, for a start.
With home advantage too, and an unbeaten run stretching back to 2016, it is difficult to look beyond the Danes - friendlies are traditionally unpredictable, but Panama could be a set for a tricky evening.
Denmark have been made huge favourites to beat Panama on Thursday, with the hosts listed at 2/9 to win with Bet365.
They put five past Ireland last time out, and those odds improve to 17/20 with Ladbrokes if you back Denmark to win and over 2.5 goals to be scored in Brondby.
After his hat-trick against Ireland, and FA Cup double for Spurs at the weekend, Christian Eriksen is 13/10 to score at any time with Bet365.
Both teams to score, meanwhile, has been set at 5/4 for yes and 4/7 for no with Betfair. Denmark have kept clean sheets in four of their last nine matches in all competitions.
Age Hareide's Denmark side will want to continue their momentum after an unbeaten 2017, and while friendlies are difficult to judge - both sides could field starting XIs named entirely of their less experienced, fringe players - it would be a surprise to see the Danes lose. With Christian Eriksen in top form, Panama need to beware of the Spurs playmaker.
Denmark are without defensive trio Andreas Bjelland, Jannik Vestergaard and Peter Ankersen for the friendlies against Panama and Chile, with the former two injured and the latter dropped for the squad which faced Ireland in the World Cup play-offs. Copenhagen's Nicolai Boilesen and Ipswich Town's Jonas Knudsen have both been called up, and could make their first appearances under current Denmark manager Age Hareide. Kasper Dolberg is also out injured, with a broken foot denying him a recall to the squad.
After hammering a hat-trick in the World Cup play-off win in Dublin, Christian Eriksen arrives for international duty on the back of more goalscoring heroics - the attacking midfielder scoring twice for Spurs at the weekend. Andreas Christensen scored his first Denmark goal in the win in Ireland, and the Chelsea defender will be a key figure at the other end of the pitch too.
Denmark have not lost an international match since October 2016. They qualified for the World Cup thanks to a 5-1 aggregate win in the play-offs against Ireland - Christian Eriksen scoring a hat-trick in Dublin after the two teams drew the first leg in Copenhagen. Denmark also drew their previous home game before that, 1-1 with Romania, while their last match in Brondby - a friendly against Germany last June - finished with the same scoreline; Eriksen scored Denmark's goal in both of those draws too.
Panama welcome back two of their most experienced players for the friendly in Copenhagen, with most-capped player Gabriel Gomez hoping to make his 141st appearance in goal, and all-time top scorer Luis Tejada bidding to add to his 43 goals up front in his 105th cap. Of the team which started against Wales in Panama’s most recent friendly, Leslie Heraldez and Manuel Vargas both miss out.
Blas Perez and Luis Tejada have both scored a joint-record 43 goals for Panama, with the latter doing so in 11 less appearances. They may have a combined age of 72, but the experience of Panama's two strikers will be crucial over the coming months.
Since the win against Costa Rica, which earned Panama their place at the World Cup, they have won one, drew one and lost one of their three friendlies. First up came a 5-0 win against Grenada before a 2-1 defeat in Iran and the 1-1 draw with Wales which saw Armando Cooper score a 90th-minute equaliser.
