Team News

Sam Allardyce will have been pleased to have reached 38 points, but he will not want his side to stop now.  He will be missing left back Pape Souare forward Connor Wickham for this home fixture.  Striker Frazier Campbell came on late at Anfield to help win the points, but center back James Tomkins picked up an injury late and will be a doubt as he hobbled around for the last eight or nine minutes.

Key Man

Two goals at Anfield against his former side will have delighted Belgian striker Christian Benteke more than he showed after each time he netted on Sunday.  The big Belgian was cast aside by Jurgen Klopp, but he came back to haunt them with two huge poacher's goals.  There is no denying the talent and technique of the big man when he gets service.  At Anfield, he was given little service.  With Palace, he is getting plenty of it of late as the side continues to create chances from wide positions.  Benteke, in a side that was threatened by the prospect of relegation for much of the season, has 14 goals to his name.  If he gets crosses here from the likes of Zaha and Townsend, he can threaten Spurs greatly.

Team Form

Crystal Palace have three wins, one draw, and a loss in their last five matches.  They started April with a 1-2 win at Stamford Bridge over leaders Chelsea before losing 3-1 later in the week to Southampton.  A 3-0 win over Arsenal got them back to full confidence before a 2-2 draw at home to Leicester last week.  On Sunday, they went to Liverpool, and they won 1-2 after coming from a goal behind the Reds.

Expected Line-up: 4-3-3

Crystal Palace likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Hennessey

  • Defenders:Kelly, Ward, Delaney, Schlupp

  • Midfielders:Milivojevic, Cabaye, Puncheon

  • Forwards:Townsend, Zaha, Benteke

Team News

Mauricio Pochettino will be without left back Danny Rose, center midfielder Harry Winks, and winger Erik Lamela due to injuries.  After deploying three men at the back for the Chelsea match, expect Pochettino to return to the usual four at the back on Wednesday at Palace.

Key Man

Despite the loss against Chelsea on Saturday, Spurs should still be full of confidence.  They didn't lose the match; Chelsea simply won it from them.  Striker Harry Kane was magnificent against the Blues, scoring a brilliant stooping and well-placed header to equalize at one point.  Kane has only improved and become more and more predatory in his play, and that is what is likely to be required when they face a Palace side that have been scoring a fair number of goals against Spur's two biggest rivals of late.  Kane has 20 goals in just 24 matches, so it's proven tough to stop him for any side in the league.

Team Form

Spurs have one loss and four wins in their last five matches in all competitions.  They started the month with a 0-2 win at Burnley and followed it up with a 1-3 win at Swansea.  Successive 4-0 home wins over Watford and Bournemouth had them in great ahead of their trip to Wembley to face Chelsea.  They would fall there, though, in a 4-2 classic.

Expected Line-up: 4-2-3-1

Tottenham likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Lloris

  • Defenders:Walker, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Davies

  • Defensive Midfielders:Wanyama, Dembele

  • Attacking Midfielders:Eriksen, Alli, Son

  • Forwards:Kane

Spurs come off a heartbreaking loss at Wembley on Saturday, but they will not feel like they are out of the title race as of yet. They are just four points back with six matches left to play, and they must win all of their matches and put Chelsea under as much pressure as possible. They come to Selhurst Park on Wednesday for a tough match against a side that has improved drastically of late in Palace. Palace have taken the league by storm with quick counterattacking and the big striker Benteke. Can that continue or will Spurs have just the side to stop the Eagles\' recent London successes?
Tottenham have the stingiest defence in the entire league, and they also have the second best defence in away matches. They are a very strong counterattacking side, and their pace will be hard to overcome for this Palace side.
