China
VS
Myanmar

Our Prediction Tip

China will win this match.

China have played Myanmar just twice before.  Both of those games were played in 2007 in World Cup qualifiers.  China won both meetings, winning 0-4 away and 7-0 at home.

China vs Myanmar Betting Tips and Odds

In AFC World Cup Qualification, the two teams had vastly different paths. China did not end up making it to the World Cup, but they did do fairly well in comparison to Myanmar. China finished second in the first group in which they played, putting them into the final groups of six. They would end up being placed in Group A, alongside sides like Iran and South Korea.  They would finish fifth, one point behind Syria for a place in the continental playoff.  As for Myanmar, they would not get very close to the World Cup at all. They would feature in a group with South Korea, and they would only get eight points and finish fifth out of six teams. Only Laos- with four points- would finish below them. So there is a ton of work for them to do.

In the past year, China have three wins, three draws, and five losses to their record in 11 matches.  However, they have not been able to get very many results recently, only managing to get draws in two of the last seven matches.  That is something that needs to be righted if they are to truly be one of the superpowers in the confederation.  As far as Myanmar go, they have four wins, three draws, and three losses in the past year.  None of these matches, though, have come against very good teams in truth.  The best team they have faced in this run, that being Thailand, did make it to the final group in qualification, but they were nowhere near getting to Russia.

China vs Myanmar Prediction

China are putting a lot of resources into putting together a very good team, and while it will take a while for them to become the side they want to be, they should have no issues seeing off a weak Myanmar side.

Correct Score Prediction: China 3-0 Myanmar

Team News

Marcello Lippi has called in an all Chinese domestic league side, which is not too big of a surprise. However, he has made some big calls in leaving out a couple of players.  65 cap defender Feng Xiaoting, 67 cap midfielder Hao Junmin, and 98 cap forward Gao Lin are among those that have been left out of the squad for these friendlies.

Key Man

He might be a defender, but he is still a very important piece of the puzzle for China going forward as well. 30 year old Yu Hai is that man. He has appeared 65 times for his country already, and he has scored 11 goals for them. In the current squad, only one player has scored more goals than he has. This makes the Shanghai SIPG a big factor in both attack and defence.

Team Form

China have three losses and two draws in their last five matches:

1-4 home loss vs Czech Republic
0-6 home loss vs Wales
1-1 draw vs North Korea
2-1 loss vs Japan
2-2 draw vs South Korea

China Predicted Starting Line-up

Expected Line-up: 4-3-3

Team News

Antoine Hey has made some interesting calls for this latest squad.  Experienced goalkeeper Thiha Sithu, midfielder Nanda Lin Kyaw Chit, and forward Kyaw Ko Ko have all been left out.

Key Man

Much like the Chinese side, Myanmar have a defender that has scored his fair share of goals. Zaw Min Tun, at 26 years of age, has scored four times from his center back position. That leads the current squad, and very few from Myanmar history have even managed to score that many.  His scoring is nice to point out, but it will be his defensive play and awareness that will decide whether it remains close or not.

Team Form

Myanmar have two wins, a loss, and two draws in their last five matches:

1-0 home win vs Macao (Asian Cup Qualification)
5-1 loss at Kyrgyzstan (ACQ)
2-2 draw at India (ACQ)
1-2 win at Cambodia (Friendly)
2-2 home draw vs Kyrgyzstan (ACQ)

Myanmar Predicted Starting Line-up

Expected Line-up: 4-4-2

It has been a while since China were able to record a victory, but they will be thinking that this has to be their moment here and now. Myanmar are not a very good team at all, and though China have a lot of issues still, they are massive favorites to not only win but to win big. This is simply a massive step up in competition for Myanmar, and that will show through.
China have failed to win any of its last seven matches in all competitions.
