Juventus will not have it all their own way against Atalanta, but their impressive defensive record in recent weeks – and away from home all season- should nullify Atalanta’s attacking threat. A narrow win will put Max Allegri’s team on the brink of the Serie A title.
Juventus are favourites to beat Atalanta, but can be still be backed for as much as 5/4 with Betfair and 23/20 with Bet365 and Ladbrokes. The draw is 12/5 with Ladbrokes, while an Atalanta win is 5/2 with Bet365, William Hill and Betfair.
Both teams to score has been set at 10/11 for both yes and no with Bet365.
Reason: League leaders Juventus can take another step towards the treble on Friday night, but Atalanta are not going to be pushovers. While Juventus are favourites, Atalanta need a win to keep their bid for European qualification on track too – their draw at Roma showing just what they are capable of.
Centre-back Ervin Zukanovic has missed Atalanta’s last two games with injury, but he is their only doubt for the visit of Juventus. Leonardo Spinazzola and Papu Gomez both returned for last weekend’s win at home to Bologna, having both sat out of the draw with Roma. It was a more defensive Atalanta side which played at Stadio Olimpico, and the visit of the league leaders could mean a similar tactic is deployed on Friday night.
Papu Gomez has scored 14 goals and assisted a further ten so far this season.
Atalanta have bounced back from their 7-1 thrashing at the hands of Inter Milan by winning three and drawing two of their five matches since. A 3-2 win at home to Bologna last weekend followed a 1-1 draw away to Roma, with both results keeping Gian Piero Gasperini’s team on course for European qualification.

Marko Pjaca’s cruciate ligament injury, suffered at the end of March, is Juve’s only injury concern, with the 21-year-old winger out for the rest of the season. Miralem Pjanic is back from suspension in the middle of midfield, which means Kwadwo Asamoah is likely to drop to the bench, while Juan Cuadrado is pushing for a recall after dropping to the bench for last weekend’s 4-0 thrashing of Genoa. Medhi Benatia made just his third league start of 2017 in that game. With five days between the trip to Atalanta and their Champions League semi-final first leg against Monaco, it is unlikely there will be too many players rested. Gianluigi Buffon has been rested for Juve’s last two league games, but is likely to return in goal.
Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain is searching for his 30th goal of the season in all competitions.
Juve’s goalless draw at the Nou Camp last week, which sealed their place in the Champions League semi-finals, is the only game they have failed to win in their last five matches. They have not conceded a goal in that time, beating Genoa 4-0 last weekend to remain eight points clear in the league. Their last Serie A away game ended with a 2-0 defeat of Pescara.
