Manchester City have enjoyed great success against West Ham in recent years and current Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini will look fondly back on this fixture from his time with the Blues – including a 9-0 aggregate win in the League Cup semi-finals.
More recently, City have won five in a row against West Ham and go into this game as big favourites thanks to their recent form too.
It is not just the fact they have won their last seven games in a row but the way they have won those matches too – dominating and scoring plenty of goals.

But City remain big, big favourites to win this game and, on their current form, you would not back against them doing exactly that.

Manchester City are in superb form and it is hard to see West Ham – a team City have enjoyed a lot of success against in the past – being the team to halt that.
Jack Wilshere and Andy Carroll are both due back in the Manchester City squad to face Manchester City, though they are likely to be substitutes against the league leaders. The Hammers still have a long injury list, however, with Carlos Sanchez, Andriy Yarmolenko, Winston Reid and Manuel Lanzini all definitely sidelined. Mark Noble is available again after his ban and likely to replace Robert Snodgrass, who is now suspended after being booked against Huddersfield last time out.

West Ham have won just one of their last six games since beating Manchester United in September. The Hammers were winless in October, losing three of their four games including defeats in the Carabao Cup and Premier League against rivals Spurs. They are unbeaten in November though, beating Burnley 4-2 in their most recent home game – Marko Arnautovic opening the scoring, Felipe Anderson twice restoring the lead and Javier Hernandez sealing it late on – and Anderson scored West Ham’s goal again in the draw with Huddersfield last time out.
Bernardo Silva returned early from international duty with Portugal carrying an injury and the Portuguese playmaker is a doubt for the weekend. Ilkay Gundogan looks set to replace him, having scored the third goal in the Manchester Derby win, with Kevin de Bruyne already ruled out. Benjamin Mendy has had minor surgery and is also unavailable, meaning either Fabian Delph or Oleksandr Zinchenko will start at left-back. Back-up goalkeeper Claudio Bravo is City’s other long-term absentee.

They scored 15 goals in their last three games, putting six apiece past Southampton and Shakhtar Donetsk before the 3-1 home win against rivals United last time out. Against Southampton, an own goal, Sergio Aguero’s 150th Premier League strike and David Silva’s strike saw City race into a 3-0 lead and, after a penalty reduced the deficit, Raheem Sterling scored twice and Leroy Sane wrapped up victory. Silva and Sterling scored again against Shakhtar, with Gabriel Jesus bagging a hat-trick and Riyad Mahrez also netting in a 6-0 win. And, last time out, Silva and Aguero fired City into a two-goal lead and, after another penalty conceded by Ederson made it 2-1, Ilkay Gundogan sealed the win with five minutes remaining.
