Manchester City

Our Prediction Tip

Manchester City will win this match.

Manchester City have won 53 of their 107 competitive matches against West Ham United, including each of the last five. West Ham have won 37 and there have been 17 draws. Last season, Nicolas Otamendi and David Silva scored in the second half at the Etihad as City came from an Angelo Ogbonna goal down to win 2-1. In the reverse fixture, at the London Stadium, City won 4-1 – including their 100th goal of the season, which was eventually credited as own goal by former City icon Pablo Zabaleta. Leroy Sane had earlier opened the scoring and, after Aaron Cresswell pulled a goal back, Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho struck in the second half to seal victory. Here are the results of their last five competitive matches:
29/04/2018: West Ham United 1-4 Manchester City
03/12/2017: Manchester City 2-1 West Ham United
01/02/2017: West Ham United 0-4 Manchester City
06/01/2017: West Ham United 0-5 Manchester City
28/08/2016: Manchester City 3-1 West Ham United

WHUFC vs MCFC Betting Tips

Manchester City have enjoyed great success against West Ham in recent years and current Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini will look fondly back on this fixture from his time with the Blues – including a 9-0 aggregate win in the League Cup semi-finals.

More recently, City have won five in a row against West Ham and go into this game as big favourites thanks to their recent form too.

It is not just the fact they have won their last seven games in a row but the way they have won those matches too – dominating and scoring plenty of goals.

Southampton and Shakhtar Donetsk were hit for six, Manchester United were beaten 3-1… and that’s just the last three games.

Sergio Aguero’s goalscoring form shows no signs of abating, David Silva is at his magical best (and scoring goals too) and Raheem Sterling has justified the pay rise he earned in his latest contract and them some.

They are rock solid at the back too, with John Stones and Aymeric Laporte forming a formidable partnership and Fernandinho bossing the midfield in front of them.

Even with Kevin de Bruyne and now Bernardo Silva out, they can turn to fit-again Ilkay Gundogan or teenage prodigy Phil Foden, while on the wings Leroy Sane, Sterling and Riyad Mahrez are fighting for two places.

West Ham got back to winning ways themselves last weekend and with Andy Carroll and Jack Wilshere on the bench it is clear their injury woes are abating.

But City remain big, big favourites to win this game and, on their current form, you would not back against them doing exactly that.

West Ham United vs Manchester City Prediction

Manchester City are in superb form and it is hard to see West Ham – a team City have enjoyed a lot of success against in the past – being the team to halt that.

Correct Score Prediction: West Ham 0-3 Man City

West Ham Team News

Jack Wilshere and Andy Carroll are both due back in the Manchester City squad to face Manchester City, though they are likely to be substitutes against the league leaders. The Hammers still have a long injury list, however, with Carlos Sanchez, Andriy Yarmolenko, Winston Reid and Manuel Lanzini all definitely sidelined. Mark Noble is available again after his ban and likely to replace Robert Snodgrass, who is now suspended after being booked against Huddersfield last time out.

West Ham Key Players

Marko Arnautovic – Five goals in 11 games for West Ham makes him their top scorer – he was missed in the weeks he was unavailable.
Felipe Anderson – Two goals in the home win against Burnley and the equaliser away to Huddersfield last time out as he starts to find his feet in English football.
Issa Diop – Has set his sights on a French call-up and a big performance against the champions will go a long way to staking his claim.

West Ham Team Form

West Ham have won just one of their last six games since beating Manchester United in September. The Hammers were winless in October, losing three of their four games including defeats in the Carabao Cup and Premier League against rivals Spurs. They are unbeaten in November though, beating Burnley 4-2 in their most recent home game – Marko Arnautovic opening the scoring, Felipe Anderson twice restoring the lead and Javier Hernandez sealing it late on – and Anderson scored West Ham’s goal again in the draw with Huddersfield last time out.

West Ham United Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-3-3

Man City Team News

Bernardo Silva returned early from international duty with Portugal carrying an injury and the Portuguese playmaker is a doubt for the weekend. Ilkay Gundogan looks set to replace him, having scored the third goal in the Manchester Derby win, with Kevin de Bruyne already ruled out. Benjamin Mendy has had minor surgery and is also unavailable, meaning either Fabian Delph or Oleksandr Zinchenko will start at left-back. Back-up goalkeeper Claudio Bravo is City’s other long-term absentee.

Man City Key Players

Sergio Aguero – Goals in the last two league games have taken him to 151 in the Premier League – the most recent of which was a thunderous strike that had David de Gea grasping thin air.
Raheem Sterling – The England winger scored twice and set up two more in the win against Southampton before another goal and assist against Shakhtar as his fine form continued.
David Silva – While his passing, touch and vision remain unparalleled, the Spanish magician has been in good goalscoring form too – netting in each of the last three games.

Man City Team Form

Between the last two international breaks, Manchester City played seven games and won them all. They scored 15 goals in their last three games, putting six apiece past Southampton and Shakhtar Donetsk before the 3-1 home win against rivals United last time out. Against Southampton, an own goal, Sergio Aguero’s 150th Premier League strike and David Silva’s strike saw City race into a 3-0 lead and, after a penalty reduced the deficit, Raheem Sterling scored twice and Leroy Sane wrapped up victory. Silva and Sterling scored again against Shakhtar, with Gabriel Jesus bagging a hat-trick and Riyad Mahrez also netting in a 6-0 win. And, last time out, Silva and Aguero fired City into a two-goal lead and, after another penalty conceded by Ederson made it 2-1, Ilkay Gundogan sealed the win with five minutes remaining.

Manchester City Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-3-3

Manchester City's supreme form shows no sign of slowing, with victory against Manchester United before the international break even more comprehensive than the 3-1 scoreline suggests. They scored 12 in their two games before that and with a good record against West Ham it is a chance to add a few more to their sensational goals scored tally.
Manchester City have now won their last seven consecutive matches in all competitions and remain unbeaten in the Premier League since March.
