Brighton & Hove

Our Prediction Tip

West Ham United will win this match.

Brighton have not lost to West Ham since earning promotion to the Premier League in 2017. They won their first three league meetings, while the last two have ended in draws – 2-2 when they last met at London Stadium last season and then 1-1 at the AMEX this year. Javier Hernandez opened the scoring for West Ham in that match in August but Leandro Trossard equalised just four minutes later.

Here are the results of their last five competitive matches:

Aug 17, 2019: Brighton & Hove Albion 1-1 West Ham United

Jan 02, 2019: West Ham United 2-2 Brighton & Hove Albion

Oct 05, 2018: Brighton & Hove Albion 1-0 West Ham United

Feb 03, 2018: Brighton & Hove Albion 3-1 West Ham United

Oct 20, 2017: West Ham United 0-3 Brighton & Hove Albion

West Ham United vs Brighton & Hove Albion Betting Tips

Both West Ham and Brighton desperately need a win from this match. They are very much in the relegation battle and one of them could end this weekend in the bottom three.

Brighton have missed two chances to pull clear already, drawing at home to Aston Villa and then losing away to Bournemouth.

They would be seven points clear of the drop if they had won both of those matches, but this is another opportunity to at least put some distance between themselves and the bottom three.

That they lost on the road to Bournemouth last weekend is indicative of their problems away from home, however, and West Ham need to exploit that.

Though lacking some key players with the likes of Yarmolenko and Anderson out injured, West Ham can still break down this Brighton defence.

As for the Hammers, their own defence has been a concern, but their recent league defeats against third-placed Leicester and table-topping Liverpool are not the cause for concern.

Matches such as this one with Brighton are the ones their season will be defined on, and this is a chance to record an important three points – as well as ending their current winless streak.

Brighton vs West Ham Recommended bets with odds

West Ham are favourites to win at home to Brighton and can be backed at 8/5 with Bet365, Betfair, Betway and 10Bet to do just that.

Both teams to score, with neither impressing defensively, has been priced at 3/4 with Betway.

West Ham to win and BTTS returns a best price of 4/1 with Betfair and Bet365, while over 2.5 goals is a best price of 19/20 with Betfair.

As for those goals, Sebastien Haller will lead the line for West Ham and the striker, in need of goals, is 41/20 with 888sport to score at any time.

West Ham United vs Brighton & Hove Albion Prediction

West Ham are in poor form but so are Brighton, and the Seagulls’ away record and loss to Bournemouth last weekend are evidence of their fragility on the road.

Correct Score Prediction: West Ham 2-1 Brighton

West Ham Team News

Michail Antonio was not risked in mid-week due to his hamstring injury, while Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko, Ryan Fredericks and Jack Wilshere are all ruled out too. Robert Snodgrass and Arthur Masuaku returned after knee injuries to face Liverpool, however, and Lukasz Fabianski is back in goal.

West Ham Key Players

Mark Noble – A relegation battle needs leaders and Mark Noble is certainly that, as well as being the last player to score for the Hammers.
Sebastien Haller – Still to prove himself despite a promising start after his summer move, the big striker needs to start scoring to lift West Ham out of trouble.
Robert Snodgrass – Back from injury and the Scot will be key to West Ham’s creativity with Anderson and Yarmolenko out.

West Ham Team Form

West Ham’s winless streak stretched to five matches when they lost 2-0 to Liverpool in mid-week, on the back of their cup defeat to West Brom and their 4-1 league loss at Leicester City. Their last league point was at home to Everton, when Issa Diop scored the Hammers’ goal in a 1-1 draw.

West Ham United Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-3-3

Brighton Team News

Jose Izquierdo is closing in on a return to first-team action but Shane Duffy could be another week away due to a bruise on his shin. Dan Burn and Leon Balogun are ruled out.

Brighton Key Players

Neal Maupay – Not scored since his three in a row at the start of December, but the striker has enjoyed a decent debut season with seven goals so far.
Leandro Trossard – Scored in the draw with Aston Villa, and was also on target when these teams last met early in the season.
Aaron Mooy – Signed a permanent deal with the Seagulls after his loan spell, and scored in his most recent appearance too.

Brighton Team Form

Brighton have not won since the turn of the year, drawing at home to Chelsea and Aston Villa in the league, losing to Sheffield Wednesday in the cup and losing away to Everton and, most recently, Bournemouth in the Premier League too. Leandro Trossard scored in the 1-1 draw with Villa but Aaron Mooy’s goal at Bournemouth last time out was no more than a consolation.

Brighton & Hove Albion Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-4-2

Just two points separate West Ham and Brighton at the bottom end of the Premier League table as both battle to pull away from the bottom three. The Hammers are currently only out of the drop zone on goal difference and really need a win, but their long injury list hampers them. Nevertheless, with Brighton not good travelers - and having lost to Bournemouth last time out - this is a game West Ham must win.
Brighton & Hove Albion are unbeaten against West Ham United since their Premier League promotion in 2017 (W3, D2).
