Everton have beaten Watford twice already this season, without conceding a goal. Bernard scored the only goal of August’s league fixture, while Mason Holgate and Richarlison struck late as Everton won 2-0 in the Carabao Cup. The Hornets have already had two different managers for this fixture this season, while Marco Silva was still in charge of the Toffees last time out.

Defeat at Aston Villa and then a cup loss away to Tranmere Rovers brought the Watford resurgence to a sudden halt.
The Hornets had previously not lost in a strong start to the new calendar year and were on the brink of pulling clear of the drop zone until their late defeat to Villa.

But pre-Villa, Watford had been in resurgent form and a home point would be a good way to kick back up the table.

Watford could get an important point at home to Everton, with the Hornets having improved massively so far in 2020 and with the Toffees still massively inconsistent.
Tom Cleverley is closing in on a return to fitness but he will miss out against his former team, while Ismaila Sarr has also been ruled out of this week’s fixture with a thigh injury. Danny Welbeck is back in contention, however and he could join Will Hughes and Nathaniel Chalobah in rejoining the squad. Kiko Femenia is out until later in February, while Sebastian Prodl and Daryl Janmaat are longer-term absentees.
Troy Deeney – Scored at Aston Villa to continue his improved form up front after an injury-hit start to the season.
Abdoulaye Doucoure – With Will Hughes back and Danny Welbeck in contention, the attacking midfielder has to prove his point once again.
Gerard Deulofeu – Hit form under Nigel Pearson and continued that with the assist against Aston Villa the previous game.
After seven games unbeaten, Watford have suffered two surprising 2-1 defeats since. They lost late on at Aston Villa, 2-1, despite Troy Deeney having opened the scoring. They then lost in the FA Cup third-round replay to Tranmere despite a goal from Kaylen Hinds in a much-changed team.
Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson could both be back from injury this week, as could Alex Iwobi, which leaves only a recovering Andre Gomes and Jean-Philippe Gbamin as absentees.

Yerry Mina – The towering centre-back can deal with the physical threat posed by Troy Deeney as the Toffees’ defence look to bounce back from their last-minute collapse against Newcastle.
Everton have taken five points from their last three league games but it should have been seven. Moise Kean and Dominic Calvert-Lewin put them 2-0 up against Newcastle last time out – after DCL had also scored in the 1-1 draw at West Ham – but two stoppage-time goals meant a 2-2 draw.
