WAT vs CPFC Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Watford are at 6/5, a draw is at 23/10, and Crystal Palace are at 9/4.

Watford will come into this match with a third manager of the season, a crazy stat.  Very rarely has this worked out for teams and kept them safe, so we will see if it leads to security or not for them.  They will begin this weekend bottom on just eight points, seven off Southampton’s pace in 17th.  Any further and they could be marooned.  Palace, meanwhile moved up to fifth for a time after their win on Tuesday but they will be somewhere in the upper mid table when they kick off here, sitting on 21 points from 15 games.  Stick or twist is the question for them currently.

Watford’s home record so far this term has been nothing short of atrocious.  That adjective might not go far enough, in fact, such has been their plight.  They have just three points, via draws, from seven matches, the worst in the league.  They have lost two in a row at Vicarage Road as well.  As for Palace, they have done well on the road so far, picking up a respectable ten points out of 21 possible.  They have seven points from their last four outings and two wins in that space and will feel confident of their chances in this particular match up.

Betfair have Schlupp scoring anytime at 6.0.

Ladbrokes have no for both teams scoring at 10/11.

Watford vs Crystal Palace Prediction

Watford are just not a team that appear to have any answers at the current time, and it’s hard to see them coming up with them here and now.  They’ll try their best, but they are just about too far gone already.

Correct Score Prediction: Watford 0-2 Crystal Palace

Watford Team News

Hayden Mullins, or whomever is in charge at kickoff of the Hornets, will be missing a few players.  Striker Troy Deeney has returned,  but fellow forward Danny Welbeck and defenders Christian Kabasele, Daryl Janmaat, and Craig Dawson are all set to miss out.

Watford Key Man

It’s really hard to come up with a hero for the Hornets right now, but Gerard Deulofeu is as close as they have, apart from Deeney who is still recovering and getting back to full fitness.  The Spaniard has had his moments, but they are far too infrequent and may not be enough to save his side.  In goal, a lot will be asked of Ben Foster.  He’s got bags of experience at the top level, and it may take him standing on his head and producing some magical saves just to breathe some life into them.

Watford Team Form

Watford have four losses and a win in their last five matches:

2-0 loss at Leicester
2-1 loss at Southampton
0-3 home loss vs Burnley
0-2 win at Norwich
1-2 home loss vs Chelsea

Watford Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-4-2

Crystal Palace Team News

Roy Hodgson will be without a handful of defensive players for this match.  Mamadou Sakho’s brainless red card sees him suspended, while Joel Ward, Scott Dann, and Gary Cahill are also set to miss out with injuries, giving the veteran manager a bit of a headache.  Patrick van Aanholt is also set to miss out through a fresh injury, worsening the problem greatly.

Crystal Palace Key Man

Two games, two goals.  Who would have thunk we’d be talking about Jeff Schlupp with that stat line?  The rangy wide man has always had bags of pace, but he had played over 100 PL matches without scoring two games running.  Now he has, and they surely have to ride that form.  And then there is Wilf Zaha, who has had a lot success recently himself.  He’s got two goals in three games, his first two of the season, and he’s heating up just in time to perhaps try and persuade bigger clubs to come calling his name come January.

Crystal Palace Team Form

Crystal Palace have two wins and three losses in their last five matches:

1-0 home win vs Bournemouth
0-2 win at Burnley
1-2 home loss vs Liverpool
2-0 loss at Chelsea
0-2 home loss at Leicester

Crystal Palace Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-5-1

To the naked eye, and certainly if you were judging this a year ago, you might not think there is a lot between these two teams. But that is definitely not the case right now. Palace did have a tough run recently, against huge sides, and have come out of it, while playing some fine football away from home. Watford aren't playing well anywhere currently, leading us to suspect that they will lay yet another egg here on the way toward a very probable relegation.
Palace have won two matches in a row, and kept clean sheets in both matches, following a four-match winless run in which they had none in that span.
