Our Prediction Tip

Draw will win this match.

Watford and Burnley played out a goalless draw when they last met at Vicarage Road, last season, but the Hornets had already beaten Burnley – winning 3-1 at Turf Moor earlier in the campaign. James Tarkowski scored an early equaliser to cancel out Andre Gray’s opener, but Troy Deeney and Will Hughes both scored to seal a 3-1 win.

Here are the results of their last five competitive matches:

Jan 19, 2019: Watford 0-0 Burnley

Aug 19, 2018: Burnley 1-3 Watford

Apr 07, 2018: Watford 1-2 Burnley

Dec 09, 2017: Burnley 1-0 Watford

Feb 04, 2017: Watford 2-1 Burnley

Watford vs Burnley Betting Tips

Had this game been played at Turf Moor, even in light of Watford’s overdue win last time out, the Clarets would have been comfortable favourites.

But at Vicarage Road, given Burnley’s poor away form, it is a much less certain scenario.

Burnley recorded a much-needed win of their own before the international break, which was also notable for Chris Wood’s return to fitness and Ashley Barnes’ first goal since his flying start to the campaign.

Against a struggling Watford team, those two will be attacking menaces again.

But Watford will take a lot from their win last time out – albeit against fellow strugglers in Norwich.

And their home advantage should not be underplayed given Burnley’s away record – though it is notable how many recent away draws they have had too.

That is why the draw is so tempting. It is difficult to confidently back either team, with neither showing form consistently enough.

And a draw would not be the worst result for the hosts at least either.

Watford vs Burnley Prediction

Burnley’s poor away form makes them difficult to back, but one swallow does not make a summer for Watford either – the Hornets come into this game on the back of a win, but they had failed to win a league game all season before that. That is why the draw is tempting.

Correct Score Prediction: Watford 1-1 Burnley

Watford Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 5-3-2

Burnley Team News

Though back in training, Johan Berg Gudmundsson is unlikely to be fit enough to face Watford, according to Sean Dyche. Matej Vydra is also a doubt with an adductor injury, while Danny Drinkwater continues to work on building up his own fitness too.

Burnley Key Players

Chris Wood – Back to fitness and back in the goals, scoring in the win against West Ham United last time out.
Ashley Barnes – After a flying start to the season, he too got back to goalscoring ways last time out – netting the opener against West Ham.

The Clarets bounced back at home to West Ham United, however – Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood put them 2-0 up at half-time before a second-half own goal sealed a much-needed win.

Burnley Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-4-2

Watford recorded a much-needed win prior to the international break and now host a Burnley team who recorded a much-needed win of their own last time out. Away from home, however, the Clarets form is poor and that makes it hard to back them - a draw may be on the cards.
Burnley have won two of their last 14 Premier League away matches, and have failed to win any of their last eight.
