USA VS Uruguay Match Prediction

Uruguay will win this match.
In the two recent meetings, the two teams have split the results, with one win coming apiece. The last match came in 2002 as the USA won 2-1 at home. The encounter before than was way back in 1963 at the Pan-American Games in which Uruguay won 2-0.
The USA come into this match a little bit lost right now. Their results don’t look all that bad, but you have little to no confidence in them when they face top tier opposition. Like it or not, Uruguay are that, or at least are much closer to being it than the Americans have been in some time. It is still very much a time of transition, and that does not bode well for them currently. In the last year, they have ten wins, two draws, and seven losses.
Uruguay, meanwhile, were supposed to be one of the favorites to win the Copa America this past summer, but they came undone in the end due to a lack of a scoring touch, even with their great, but aging, front line. This is a good time to try and experiment to see if they can find someone with a touch for goal, even if he’s unfancied at club level. Their last year has been very up and down, with the end of 2018 culminating with four losses. They then have since gone and won six times, drawn once, and lost on penalties.
Uruguay, on paper, don’t have their usual firepower available to them, but they will have to learn how to go without them sooner or later. This is a nice test for them, and they pass it to win over the USA.
Gregg Berhalter called up a pretty big squad here, so you can expect him to rotate some and use them. With that said, he’s not going to want to change too much, you feel, or he’ll risk running into a buzz saw in doing so.
There is no secret that the United States need more of, and many more of them, of Christian Pulisic. He is capable of terrorizing defences and has played at a high level, something many of the US squad just haven’t. He’s even began his Chelsea tenure well, and he’s becoming a leader imploring his teammates to step up against big foes. Josh Sargent is a player some feel can emulate Pulisic to a degree. He is a striker, so he will not be quite as creative, but he’s had some goals already in Germany and will be eager to try and stake his claim to a place in this side.
USA have two losses and three wins in their last five matches:
0-3 loss vs Mexico (Fri)
1-0 loss vs Mexico (CONCACAF Gold Cup)
1-3 win vs Jamaica (CGC)
1-0 home win vs Curacao (CGC)
0-1 win vs Panama (CGC)
Oscar Tabarez is missing strikers Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani from the team, their two biggest and most high-profile stars by far. Diego Godin, a close third, is also not in the current iteration of the side. However, he still has big names like Jose Gimenez and Rodrigo Bentancur, as well as Lucas Torreira available to him.
One of the men trying to forge his way into a consistent spot in the Arsenal team at present is Lucas Torreira, and he can use this match to try and get into that sort of position. The midfielder is adept at being a bulldog, winning possession back and also driving forward to score goals, too. He’s also got a nice passing range, which is crucial to have. Juventus starlet Rodrigo Bentancur is still undervalued by many, but he’s been making his way in Italy and even made the UCL squad ahead of Emre Can, much to many folks’ surprise.
Uruguay have three wins and two draws in their last five matches:
1-2 win at Costa Rica (Fri)
0-0 home draw, penalty loss vs Peru (Copa America)
0-1 win vs Chile (COA)
2-2 draw vs Japan (COA)
4-0 win vs Ecuador (COA)
