Our Prediction Tip

USA will win this match.

The United States have only faced Bolivia twice before. The most recent meeting was in a May 2016 friendly in which they went on to win 4-0. The only other match was in the 1995 Copa America, with Bolivia winning 1-0.

Portugal vs Tunisia Betting Tips and Odds

The United States suffered one of their worst qualification ventures in quite some time.  And, in truth, this is likely to go down as their worst because expectations are much higher than they have ever been in America.  They came through the first group stage without too many worries, but the Hex was a whole other story for them.  They lost in the first two rounds, seeing a change of manager come after, and they just never looked all that convincing.  On the final day of the campaign, they lost, seeing them slide out of even a playoff place and straight to infamy.  Speaking of infamy, that is a place that Bolivia know all too well.  Another campaign has come and gone without too much of an impact being made by them.  They did not finish bottom this time, finishing ninth out of ten instead, and a full 12 off the pace.  Without their home being at high elevation, it's unlikely they'd have obtained half of those points.  Still yet, this team can make it tough on a team if they are well organized in defence.

In the past year, the USA have ten wins, six draws, and just two losses. But don't let those stats fool you.  The Gold Cup win only serves to pad the stats.  The two losses came right when they needed a point the most, in qualification, against T&T and Costa Rica.  So there are very real reasons why they are still without a permanent manager and why they are in a rebuild mode.  On the positive side of things, they have two draws, against Portugal and Bosnia, and a draw, in their last three games.  Bolivia, on the other hand, have taken three wins, two draws, and three losses in the past year.  Two of their wins came on Nicaragua, a rather small fish in the CONCACAF pond, in June of last year.  They have gone four straight without a victory now, with a draw and a loss at Curacao coming most recently.

Portugal vs Tunisia Prediction

The United States hammered Bolivia by four goals just a couple of years ago. Times have changed since then, and it's going to be tough for the Americans to do that again, but they should at least get a victory.

Correct Score Prediction: United States 2-0 Bolivia

Team News

Dave Sarachan continues to stay in charge and to give young players a shot to get minutes on the pitch.  Six players that have yet to win a cap have been named in this side, including the likes of forward Josh Sargent and defender Erik Palmer-Brown.  Midfielder Julian Green is a bit of a surprise call-in, while the biggest bit of news is the inclusion of Christian Pulisic for the first time since their qualifying failure.  Goalkeeper Zach Steffen, defenders Shaq Moore and John Brooks, and forward Bobby Wood are amongst the players left out.  It must be pointed out that this team consists mainly of European-based stars and a few from Liga MX.

Key Man

It's such a young side that Christian Pulisic, given how many matches he has played with Borussia Dortmund, is going to be the leader in essence despite his 19 years of age.  He has played just 20 times for the United States already, but he has scored nine times already.  He didn't have the best of years with BVB, but he will be looking to bounce back now and take up his role as the brightest of hopes for the Americans.

Team Form

USA have two wins, two draws, and a loss in their last five matches:

1-0 home win vs Paraguay
0-0 home draw vs Bosnia
1-1 draw at Portugal
2-1 loss at Trinidad & Tobago (WCQ)
4-0 home win vs Panama (WCQ)

USA Predicted Starting Line-up

Expected Line-up: 4-1-4-1

Team News

Mauricio Soria has also brought a ton of newer faces into his latest Bolivian side for this friendly with the USA.  Only two players, defender/midfielder Danny Bejarano and goalkeeper Carlos Lampe have more than ten caps to their names.  So this might be a very tough ask of this team that has had little experience outside of Bolivia and possibly South American football.

Key Man

Even with a young American side set to line up against them, Bolivia look like they could be set up in front of a firing squad of sorts.  As a whole, they have scored just one goal between them in international football, and that means it's not going to be easy for them to score goals.  That means veteran goalkeeper Carlos Lampe is going to be the key man for them here.  He'll need to have a commanding display if they are to keep it close and get a result.

Team Form

Bolivia have two losses, two draws, and a win in their last five matches:

1-0 loss at Curacao
1-1 draw at Curacao
4-2 loss at Uruguay (WCQ)
0-0 home draw vs Brazil (WCQ)
1-0 home win vs Chile (WCQ)

Bolivia Predicted Starting Line-up

Expected Line-up: 4-4-2

Dave Sarachan will be secretly hoping to be named US Manager permanently, you'd think, and in order for him to keep that job he is going to have to continue to see his young charges do well. They should do just fine at home to Bolivia, a side that are perpetually toward the bottom of the South American food chain. The young Americans win out in Pennsylvania to keep up the hopes for the next generation.
Under interim manager Dave Sarachan, the US have yet to lose, drawing twice and winning once in their three outings so far.
