Tottenham Hotspur VS Wolverhampton Wanderers Match Prediction

Tottenham Hotspur will win this match.
Neither side has won a home game in this fixture since Wolves’ Premier League return in 2018. Spurs won 3-2 at Molineux last season and Jan Vertonghen’s late goal earned a 2-1 win in December, after Adama Traore had earlier cancelled out Lucas Moura’s effort. They have not met at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but Wolves scored three late goals when they met at Wembley to claim a 3-1 win.
Spurs are seriously short up front, with Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min on the long-term injury list. It puts a lot on new boy Steven Bergwijn to start delivering goals.
He has one to his name so far, against Manchester City, but defeats in their last two games means Spurs are under pressure in the race for Europe again.
Wolves have a big chance to leapfrog Jose Mourinho’s side and climb back into qualification contention by backing up their own recent good performances.
They have kept fifth-placed Manchester United and third-placed Leicester out in recent matches, before Diogo Jota’s goals led them to victories in the Europa League against Espanyol and the league against Norwich.
Spurs pose a very different threat to Norwich, of course, but momentum is important in this league and at the moment it is with Wolves and not Jose Mourinho’s side.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side remain fortunate with injuries too, and their first-leg win against Espanyol meant they were able to rest players in mid-week.
Back to full strength, they will hope to get back to their good defensive record and, if they do that, they can take at least a point from this fixture.
Tottenham are favourites to win at home to Wolves, at 6/4 with Betfair, but the draw at 11/5 with Bet365 is tempting.
Wolves are in good defensive form of late, and under 2.5 goals will return 4/6 with Bet365 and Betway.
Both teams to score will still return a best price of 10/11 with Ladbrokes and Bet365, however.
Raul Jimenez is 21/10 with Betfair and Paddy Power to score at any time, while in-form Diogo Jota is 16/5 with 888sport.
Wolves are in good form at both ends of the pitch and, in a fixture in which home advantage has counted for nothing lately, they can take at least a point.
Ryan Sessegnon is to be assessed as he looks to recover from a muscular injury, while Juan Foyth is ruled out and Son Heung-Min has been added to a long-term absence list that already included Harry Kane and Moussa Sissoko.
Steven Bergwijn – With no Harry Kane and no Son Heung-Min, Spurs are going to be reliant on the Dutch forward for goals in the latter half of this season.
Lucas Moura – Scored when these teams last met and is another that now needs to step up with Son and Kane on the long-term injured list.
Hugo Lloris – In a season of bad injury news, Spurs have at least been able to welcome their captain and goalkeeper back to action in recent weeks.
After starting February with three straight wins, Spurs have lost their last two games in a row. Son Heung-Min’s late winner ensured a 3-2 victory at Villa Park but since then, Tottenham have lost 1-0 to RB Leipzig and 2-1 at Chelsea with a late own goal proving no more than a consolation last time out.
Jonny Castro is Wolves’ only injury absence, with them likely to be back to full strength after some rotation for the second leg of their Europa League tie.
Diogo Jota – Two goals last weekend added to his hat-trick in the first leg against Espanyol to continue his excellent goalscoring form up front.
Raul Jimenez – The Mexican striker hit his 12th league goal of the season in the win against Norwich last weekend.
Conor Coady – With Spurs depleted in attack, the centre-back will lead a Wolves defence that will want to get back to their recent good run of clean sheets.
Wolverhampton Wanderers’ unbeaten run was ended by a 3-2 loss at Espanyol on Thursday night but, after a 4-0 first-leg win inspired by Diogo Jota’s hat-trick, they were never likely to lose their aggregate lead. In between, Jota scored another two goals and Raul Jimenez added the other in a 3-0 home league win against Norwich City.
