Tottenham Hotspur will win this match.
Tottenham’s first trip to Carrow Road since Norwich’s were last in the Premier League, in 2016, ended in a 2-2 draw last month. Spurs twice had to come from behind – Christian Eriksen cancelling out Mario Vrancic’s opener, but Serge Aurier’s own goal put Norwich back in front until Harry Kane converted a late penalty.
Norwich City were desperate to get back winning ways but they remain deep in the relegation mire despite beating Bournemouth last time out.
Spurs’ form is not good, but they were just millimetres away from ending their own winless streak in the league when they drew with Watford at the weekend.
They still lack goals and need inspiration – some of which they will hope Gedson Fernandes supplies – but they are favourites for this game.
Norwich’s away form is dismal – continuing a long run of poor away results that stretches back to their last Premier League stint.
The Canaries have won just one of their last 14 on the road in the top flight and their record this season is just five points on their travels from 11 matches.
Likewise, their win against Bournemouth was a rare one – they had previously not won a league game since November and that, in turn, was their first since September.
Spurs really should be winning this game – their form is not good, but they have a big opportunity to record a much-needed three points.
Spurs are, unsurprisingly, huge odds-on favourites to end their Premier League winless streak against bottom-placed Norwich. They are 2/5 to win with Bet365, Ladbrokes, Betfair and Betway.
The previous meeting ended in a 2-2 draw, but Norwich’s form is not good and betting against both teams to score this time will return 23/20 with Betfair.
With Spurs hardly firing either, however, you can get a best price of 8/5 with Betfair on there being under 2.5 goals.
Son Heung-Min is a best price of 13/10 with Bet365 to score at any time, while Lucas Moura is 7/5 with 888sport.
Norwich might have got a rare win at the weekend, and Spurs’ form is not great, but the Canaries’ poor away form means this is a big chance for Spurs to get back to winning ways.
Hugo Lloris is in the final few weeks of his absence, while Moussa Sissoko and Harry Kane are long-term absentees. This match might come too soon for Tanguy Ndombele and Ben Davies, but Danny Rose could be back at left-back in place of Japhet Tanganga. Christian Eriksen was benched at the weekend, while new boy Gedson Fernandes is pushing for a start after also featuring as a substitute.
Lucas Moura – The Brazilian needs to start firing if he is to cover the absence of Harry Kane. He did so last season, and Spurs need to get back among the goals.
Son Heung-Min – Proved his quality last season but has not fully kicked on during a frustrating campaign. Now is the time to get back to top form.
Gedson Fernandes – His acquisition on an 18-month loan from Benfica could prove one of the missing pieces of the jigsaw for Jose Mourinho and Spurs.
Tottenham have failed to score in each of their last three league games – 1-0 losses to Southampton and Liverpool and then the goalless draw with Watford in which they were millimetres away from a last-gasp winner. In between, however, they did score against Middlesbrough – eventually seeing the Championship side off in the FA Cup third round after a replay.
Only Timm Klose remains on the Norwich injury list, though Ben Godfrey will also be absent due to suspension after his red card against Bournemouth at the weekend. Grant Hanley could be back at centre-back.
Teemu Pukki – Scored from the spot against Bournemouth at the weekend to get Norwich back to winning ways and move into double figures for the season.
Todd Cantwell – His first season in the top flight has proved to be a breakthrough campaign, scoring several goals and linking well with Pukki.
Tim Krul – The goalkeeper kept a rare Norwich clean sheet at the weekend and he could be a crucial difference against Spurs’ goalshy front line.
Norwich recorded their first league win since November at the weekend, when Teemu Pukki scored from the spot in a 1-0 home win against Bournemouth. Ben Godfrey was later sent off, but Norwich held on for a valuable three points. It was their second win in three games, however, as they also beat Preston in the FA Cup before a 4-0 league defeat at Manchester United.
