PSV Eindhoven have scored seven goals in three matches against Rosenborg in European football, winning all three of them. They won this season’s match in Trondheim 4-1, with Pablo Rosario opening the scoring, Birger Meling putting through his own net and Donyell Malen striking twice – either side of Samuel Adegbenro’s goal for the hosts. They had previously won home and away when the two teams met in the group stage of the 2004-05 UEFA Champions League.
PSV’s two heavy away defeats have cost them dearly, but they got back to winning ways at the weekend in impressive fashion against Fortuna Sittard.
A 5-0 win with five different goalscorers sets them up well for getting back on track, and they should look to build momentum now.

If PSV Eindhoven opt for a strong team, with the likes of in-form Donyell Malen – who scored twice when these teams last met – Steven Bergwijn and Mohammed Ihattaren in the starting line-up, they should have far too much quality for Rosenborg.
They won 4-1 when they met in Norway and now, with home advantage, they are big favourites to earn another victory.

PSV got back to winning ways at the weekend, put five past Fortuna Sittard in the Eredivisie. Ritsu Doan, Donyell Malen, Steven Bergwijn, Mohammed Ihattaren and Cody Gakpo were all on target. They had previously drawn 1-1 with Emmen on the back of their crushing defeat to Sevilla.
Rosenborg have not played since the start of the month, and their league season is over, so there is no reason to not to pick a full strength team despite there being nothing riding on this game but pride.
Even Hovland – The defender scored twice on the final day of the league season to finish the campaign with five goals – he is a big presence in both boxes.
Samuel Adegbenro – Scored the goal that sealed third place for Rosenborg to also move to five in the league this season.
Bjorn Johnsen – Scored Rosenborg’s most recent goal in this competition, in the 2-1 defeat to LASK.
Rosenborg completed their league season on the first of this month, winning 3-2 at home to Ranheim to secure third place. Even Hovland scored twice before Samuel Adegbenro’s winner. The Norwegian team have not played since.
