Real Sociedad

Our Prediction Tip

Draw will win this match.

The last six meetings between Osasuna and Real Sociedad have seen four draws, so perhaps this is the most likely result in the upcoming La Liga match this weekend. The last time the teams met in the league was in the 2012/13 league season, with Real Sociedad recording a 5-0 home win. However, Osasuna were able to claim a point with a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture and they are unbeaten in their last five home matches against Real Sociedad.

Osasuna v Real Sociedad: Prediction

Osasuna got their season up and running with a point last weekend and maintaining positive momentum for as long as possible is always key for newly-promoted sides who arrive in La Liga. It is hard to judge Real Sociedad from their 3-0 loss at home to Real Madrid but they will be hoping for a more impressive defensive performance this time out. It looks likely to be a very close game.

Osasuna v Real Sociedad: Betting Tips

The draw looks to be the best value from the match odds market for this match and it can be backed at a price of 9/4, although it is tempting to side with hosts Osasuna at 21/10 as well. Losing 3-0 on the opening weekend is likely to have hit morale at Real Sociedad, who are available at 8/5 here, a price that does not look to have a lot going for it.

Instead, the goals market are of interest with both teams likely to want to keep it tight as much as possible as they search for their first clean sheets of the new La Liga campaign. Under 2.5 goals has a great chance at a price of 19/29, while betting against both teams to score is recommended, even at a relatively low price of 8/9.

A 1-1 draw at Malaga was a very good start to the new La Liga season for Osasuna, who needed a late leveller by Fran Merida to snatch a point in what was a very close match. Osasuna named an all-Spanish team last weekend - a rarity in La Liga - and they will be expected to do so again, with coach Enrique Monreal unlikely to make many changes. Merida's impact from the bench could earn him a place in the starting line-up, however.

Osasuna likely XI:

  • Goalkeeper:- Perez

  • Defenders:- J Flano, D Garcia, M Flano, U Garcia, Fuentes

  • Midfielders:- Oier, Cuevas, Merida

  • Forwards:- Kenan, Riera

Real Sociedad were not expected to get anything out of their first game of the new La Liga campaign at home to Real Madrid, but a 3-0 loss is still a disappointing opening result. Carlos Vela looks to be the most obvious of the players left on the bench by coach Eusebio Sacristan to be brought into the starting line-up, with David Concha potentially dropping out of the team.

Real Sociedad likely XI:

  • Goalkeeper:- Rulli

  • Defenders:- Zaldua, Gonzalez, Martinez, Yuri

  • Midfielders:- Illarramendi, Bergara, Zurutuza, Vela, Oyarzabal

  • Forwards:- Juanmi

Osasuna are one of the most interesting teams in La Liga this season and it will be fascinating to see how they get on with their return to the top-flight. Real Sociedad are unlikely to finish above mid-table and will view this as a winnable tie, but so will Osasuna. With neither side wanting to lose, a low-scoring draw could well be the most likely result here.
Real Sociedad have not won on any of their last five visits to Osasuna.
