After seven years without a fixture – and even longer since they last met in a league game – Burnley and Norwich have met twice this season. In the league, Chris Wood scored twice in a 2-0 Burnley win at Turf Moor. Grant Hanley and Josip Drmic scored for Norwich when they met in the FA Cup, however, with Erik Pieters’ goal not enough to stop the Clarets being knocked out at home.
Norwich City remain without a win in their last nine games in all competitions and Burnley can take advantage of that to win this game.
Burnley themselves are unbeaten in their last six games – drawing with Liverpool and Wolves in their last two – but they are struggling with injuries.
They are down to a bare back four after Charlie Taylor’s injury last time out and they may have to do without Jay Rodriguez up front too.
Chris Wood – who also scored twice when these teams last met – netted a last-gasp penalty equaliser last time out, however.
It keeps Burnley’s European hopes – albeit slim now – alive, but more realistically it ensures they can finish the season well.
That is in complete contrast to Norwich who lack form, lack goals and lack any real incentive other than pride for the final two games.
Teemu Pukki’s goals have dried up, as have the teams, and with Burnley – even with their bare back four – defending well, that does not bode well for the hosts.
Put simply, Burnley might have their own worries but on the pitch their form is good – and Norwich’s is anything but.

Norwich City are in bad form and the already-relegated Canaries could be heading for another loss – even if Burnley are down to their bare bones.
There are no fresh injury concerns for Norwich, who could welcome Marco Stiepermann and Teemu Pukki back to the starting line-up. The two were on the bench last time out, as was Emiliano Buendia – the Canaries’ most recent goalscorer.
Teemu Pukki – An excellent start to the campaign never lasted but the Finnish striker will at least want to end his current goal drought.
Todd Cantwell – Impressed in flashes this season – enough to show the danger he can pose on the wing, both in terms of assists and goals.
Timm Klose – Leads the defence after a frustrating season and will need to be on top against Burnley’s physical front men.
Having had their relegation sealed by a 4-0 home defeat to West Ham United, the Canaries lost their most recent match too, 1-0 to Chelsea, to slip to nine consecutive defeats in all competitions. They have not scored since Emiliano Buendia’s opener in a 2-1 loss to Watford.
In Sean Dyche’s words, Burnley ‘are running out of players’. Jay Rodriguez was taken off as a precaution last time out with a tight calf, while Ben Mee and Charlie Taylor will not return for this game either. Ashley Barnes, Jack Cork and Matthew Lowton are also all sidelined. Burnley have four fit senior defenders, so Phil Bardsley, James Tarkowski, Kevin Long and Erik Pieters seems certain to be the back four.
Chris Wood – Kept his cool from the penalty spot, deep in stoppage time, to snatch a point last time out and if Rodriguez misses out, he will be key up front.
Nick Pope – Good defensive form since the loss against Manchester City has been helped by the England hopeful being in good form in goal.
James Tarkowski – With injuries all around him in the back four, the former England international leads this Clarets defence.
A pair of 1-1 draws, with Liverpool and Wolves, mean Burnley have only lost once since the restart and are now unbeaten in six since that heavy defeat to Manchester City. Jay Rodriguez scored their goal against Liverpool, while Chris Wood’s last-minute penalty snatched a point last time out.
