Our Prediction Tip

Norway will win this match.

So far, this series has seen Norway win just twice in 11 meetings.  In the other nine matches, there have been five draws.  The most recent meeting, however, was way back in 2003 when Romania held Norway to a 1-1 draw on the road.

NOR vs ROU Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Norway are at evens to win, a draw is at 21/10, and a Romania win is at 3/1.

Norway have had a decent last year, winning four times, drawing twice, and losing two times as well.  They have slowed down of late, winning just one of their last four.  However, a draw at home to neighbors Sweden and a loss to Spain aren’t the worst results you’d ever see.  That being said, they have work to do in the group if they want to equal the showing they had in the Nations League after they took top spot in League C, Group 3.  At home, the Lions have three wins and a draw in the last year.

Romania came very close to achieving the same feat as Norway, winning their Nations League group, but they were beaten out by Serbia by two points in the end and didn’t quite get the honor of gaining promotion due to that.  With that said, it was a strong year that included four wins, three draws, and just one loss.  The loss came away to Sweden, so not the worst.  On the road, the Tricolours have two wins, a draw, and a loss in the last year.

Betfair have King scoring anytime at 3.2.

Ladbrokes have both sides registering a goal at evens.

Norway vs Romania Prediction

Norway have some young, exciting talents in the team, and it’s high time for them to return to the big table of European football.  While that’s still a ways off, they cane take an important step with a win over Romania.

Correct Score Prediction: Norway 2-1 Romania

Norway Team News

Lars Lagerback will be without goalkeeper Rune Jarstein due to injury for this match.  Forward Alexander Sorloth and midfielder Jo Inge Berget are among those to have missed out on the call up.

Norway Key Man

With Joshua King up front, Norway have a proven and steady goal scorer that knows how to get the job done at a high level.  The Bournemouth man comes off a typically good year in England and will look to add to the 14 goals he’s already plundered internationally for his side.  Alongside him could well be Ola Kamara, the hero of their latest outing, the draw with Sweden.  His 96th minute equalizer gave them a point and made sure they didn’t go without one through two matches.

Norway Team Form

Norway have two draws, a loss, and two wins in their last five matches:

3-3 home draw vs Sweden (ECQ)
2-1 loss at Spain (ECQ)
0-2 win at Cyprus (UNL)
1-1 draw at Slovenia (UNL)
1-0 home win vs Bulgaria (UNL)

Norway Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-4-2

Romania Team News

Cosmin Contra will be without defenders Cristian Ganea and Vlad Chiriches and midfielders Constantin Budescu and Mihai Pintilli due to injuries.  Goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon, formerly of Manchester City, has been left out.

Romania Key Man

There is a lot of faith being placed into the feet of 23 year old George Puscas, and though he’ll likely never end up as good as his namesake, he still can forge a path for Romania toward the next echelon should he perform well and add to the two goals he’s grabbed in six showings so far.  In midfield, Alexandru Chipciu is one to keep a watch on.  The Sparta man has scored five times in 43 outings, but it’s his creative ability that is the thing to watch most of all.

Romania Team Form

Romania have three wins, a loss, and a draw in their last five matches:

4-1 home win vs Faroe Islands (ECQ)
2-1 loss at Sweden (ECQ)
0-1 win at Montenegro (UNL)
3-0 home win vs Lithuania (UNL)
0-0 home draw vs Serbia (UNL)

Romania Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-4-2

It might not look like a big deal, seeing as how they lost to Spain and drew with Sweden, but Norway find themselves in a precarious position here. They desperately need a win to stay within touching distance, and that puts a lot of pressure upon them. Romania are no slouches for sure, but being away from home will not help them, as the hosts figure out a way to win and stay in the fight for automatic qualification.
Norway are in danger of missing out on yet another major Finals appearance, with the last one they made being the 2000 Euros. That's nine in a row and could be ten if they don't pick up the pace soon.
