Lyon beat Nice 2-1 when they met in Ligue 1 earlier this season, after Nice won both of last season’s matches 1-0. They have not met in the Coupe de France since 2011, however – a match Nice also won 1-0. This season’s previous meeting saw Jeff Reine-Adelaide and Moussa Dembele score for Lyon before Fernando Marcal was sent off. Nice have a good record in the cups against Lyon, but their form overall this season suggests that could be changing.
Nice may be unbeaten in their last seven games, but Lyon have won six on the bounce and have Moussa Dembele banging them in up front.
Houssem Aouar has contributed goals and assists too, and they have done well to cover the long-term absence of injured Memphis Depay.
Martin Terrier, who fainted at the weekend and needed medical treatment on the pitch, will be missed too, but Bertrand Traore started the last cup match anyway.
Nice have become more solid in recent weeks and harder to beat, so there may be little in this match, but Lyon are definitely still the form team overall.
If the visitors can get their noses in front early on, they have the quality at both ends of the pitch to go on and claim victory.

Nice have become harder to beat recently but Lyon can edge this one – even if there is very little in it.
Patrick Vieira will welcome Gautier Loris back for the match against Lyon, but Riza Durmisi is out with a thigh strain and likely to miss both matches with Lyon, and Youcef Atal remains sidelined with a knee injury.
Kasper Dolberg – Scored when these teams last met and got back on the scoresheet at the weekend in the draw with Rennes too.
Wylan Cyprien – The midfielder has scored eight times this season and also contributed five assists to become their key playmaker.
Pierre Lees Melou – His assist for Dolberg’s goal at the weekend was his sixth of the season and he has scored four times from midfield too.
Nice are unbeaten in their last seven matches in all competitions, drawing their last two in the league 1-1, either side of a 2-1 win at home to Red Star in the Coupe de France. Wylan Cyprien and Kasper Dolberg scored the goals in the league games, while Danilo Barbosa and Ignatius Kpene Ganago netted in the cup win.
Martin Terrier will miss the trip to Nice after fainting during the win against Toulouse at the weekend. Goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu is set to continue in goal, meanwhile, with Rudi Garcia unwilling to risk Anthony Lopes (shoulder) until he is fully recovered. Memphis Depay is a long-term absentee, of course.
Moussa Dembele – Scored 17 goals so far this season, as well as claiming six assists, including his goal from the spot against Nice when they last met.
Houssem Aouar – Scored his sixth of the season in the 2-2 draw with Lille in Lyon’s last cup match, and he also has six assists to his name too.
Thiago Mendes – Controls the tempo from the heart of the Lyon midfield and has weighed in with a club-high seven assists for the season too.
Lyon have won their last six matches in a row, though they needed penalties to see off Lille in the League Cup last week, despite Moussa Dembele and Houssem Aouar having put them 2-1 up. They were more clinical against Toulouse at the weekend – Maxwel Cornet, Dembele and Karl Ekambi scoring their goals in a 3-0 win.
