Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Newcastle are at 5/6 to win, a draw is at 12/5, and a Huddersfield win is at 7/2.

Newcastle come into this match in a decent mood all things considered.  They are sitting in 16th place and have just 25 points, putting them only one ahead of the bottom three, but things are looking up for them a little.  They have spent some money on a big target, and they have had some things to shout about recently with seven points to show from their last four matches.  They still lack some consistency, but they have gotten better and really should expect themselves to get three points towards their cause of 36-38 points, the total targeted by Benitez.

Huddersfield, meanwhile, are marooned on the bottom of the table and are just a matter of time away from being sentenced to relegation.  The Terriers have only 11 points in the division and are a full 12 from getting out of trouble at this stage.  They are a full six away from the next placed team, showing just how much of a struggle it has been.  The writing has been on the wall for some time now, and it’s now a matter of pride.  No wins and just a single point in their last five have occurred, but they have a small positive as this is the first ‘easier’ game since the draw against Cardiff as they faced three big six sides and Everton in the following four.

At home, the Magpies have only collected 13 points from 13 matches so far, making them just 18th in that statistic.  This is a terrible return, and it’s a good chunk of the reason they are still battling relegation right now (never mind the lack of investment by the owner).  With that said, though, they have gotten two of their four wins in their last two matches and have seven points from their last four games to show real improvement.

The Terriers’ away record isn’t the league’s worst, but it’s nowhere near decent, either.  They have only six points from 12 matches, including one win and three draws, putting them only above Fulham in this category.  They have scored only eight times and let in 26, accounting for their lack of success. With just one point and four losses out of their last five games, it’s easy to see why they are such outsiders in against a set of strugglers like Newcastle here.

Ladbrokes have Newcastle winning and under 3.5 goals at 13/10.

No for both teams to score, via Betfair, is at 1.72.

Newcastle vs Huddersfield Prediction

Newcastle have been playing better of late, but you still just can’t believe their attack.  They scored less than a goal per match, so they will be more than happy just to eek one out here by a familiar scoreline.

Correct Score Prediction: Newcastle 1-0 Huddersfield

Newcastle Team News

Rafa Benitez will be without goalkeeper Rob Elliot as the Terriers visit town, but apart from that his squad is finally getting fully fit.  Expect to see new signing Miguel Almiron to start, though his role could be tough to predict.

Newcastle Key Man

In Almiron, Newcastle have put a lot of faith in.  The Paraguayan is a huge money signing from MLS, and he will be under pressure to get it right quickly.  With great pace on the ball, look for him to try and carve out openings and to dovetail with big man Rondon.  Speaking of Rondon, the Venezuelan is the opposite sort of threat of Almiron.  He’s direct and powerful, and he can terrorize the Huddersfield back line with his presence as he looks to add to six goals and three assists in the Prem.

Newcastle Team Form

The Magpies have a draw, two losses, and two wins in their last five matches:

1-1 draw at Wolves
1-0 loss at Tottenham
2-1 home win vs Manchester City
0-2 home loss vs Watford (FA Cup)
3-0 home win vs Cardiff

Newcastle Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 3-5-1-1

Huddersfield Team News

Jan Siewert has some good news in the form of Abelhamid Sabiri, Chris Lowe, and Jonas Lossl have all returned to training and are available for selection.  Danny Williams is also nearing a return as well.  With the Magpies set to play five at the back, look for Huddersfield to try and match up as a lot of teams do in this situation.

Huddersfield Key Man

It’s been a horribly bleak season so far, but Huddersfield still have Aaron Mooy in center midfield to drive them.  The Australian has struggled to have as much of an impact this season, but so has the rest of the sides.  If they are to pull off a miracle, it’ll take some magic from him.  In goal, they’ll be happy to see Jonas Lossl back.  The Danish goalkeeper has been a bright spot for the past two seasons, and he can keep them in games when they don’t really deserve to be at times.

Huddersfield Team Form

The Terriers have four losses and a draw in their last five matches:

1-2 home loss vs Arsenal
5-0 loss at Chelsea
0-1 home loss vs Everton
0-3 home loss vs Manchester City
0-0 draw at Cardiff

Huddersfield Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 5-3-2

This match has been tight, tense, and nervy so far whenever they have played, and you can expect that to be the case this time around, too. So much is on the line for Newcastle, and Huddersfield just are barely hanging on. They have no real chance of getting out of this danger they've gotten into, but they will not go out without a fight. They stick around in it, but the Magpies scratch out a narrow win to skate further away.
All three PL meetings between these sides have been tense games that ended 1-0. Newcastle have won each of the last two, including the meeting back in December at Huddersfield.
