MDA vs FRA Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Moldova are at 20/1 to win, a draw is at 7/1, and a France win is at 1/8.

Perhaps one of the most telling ways to look at the differences between these sides is the UEFA Nations League that began last year.  In it, Moldova competed in Group D2.  They finished in third place.  That right there speaks volumes about where they are.  They just aren’t a very good team, it’s a tiny nation, after all, and it’s always going to be a massive struggle just for them to stay in the hunt against a much bigger side.  With that said, they will be feeling encouraged a little bit by their showing in the UNL.  But for a 4-0 loss at Luxembourg, they were competitive in all of their matches.  In the past year, they have two wins, four draws, and three losses in total.  It’s not a great record, that’s for sure.

As for France, they are the defending World Cup champions.  They won it in style, too, scoring a bundle of goals against a very good and underrated Croatian side with the world’s best player in it.  After that, though, they have disappointed slightly.  It’s always tough to follow up a tournament like that.  You don’t know whether to stick or twist with your players and you sometimes lack the motivation.  As a result, they ended up in second in their Nations League group, seeing them miss out on this summer’s finals.  Overall, their past year has included just two losses, four draws, and 12 wins.  A stunning showing in all actuality.

Betfair have no for both sides scoring at 1.44.

Griezmann scoring first, via Ladbrokes, is at 10/3.

Moldova vs France Prediction

It’s not been the worst of runs from Moldova of late, but so much of that is skewed due to the Nations League.  France are in a whole other dimension of play, and they will show that in a dominant display.

Correct Score Prediction: Moldova 0-3 France

Moldova Team News

Alexandru Spiridon has left out three notable players with a lot of experience, with defender Petru Racu and midfielders Alexandru Gatcan and Alexandru Dedov left out after the match against Luxembourg back in November.

Moldova Key Man

In qualification for the World Cup, Moldova didn’t get a single win and goals were very hard to come by.  No man scored more than once for them, so that is going to need some work.  Vitalie Damascan is only 20, but he is showing real promise and scored during the UNL campaign.  The Torino man is a big hope of their future.  Their leading scorer in said campaign was Radu Ginsari, who had three goals.  He is their penalty taker as well, racking up seven goals in 30 caps from midfield for a struggling side.  Not a bad rate at all, all things considered.

Moldova Team Form

Moldova have a loss, two draws, and two wins in their last five matches:

1-0 loss at Kazahkstan (Fri)
1-1 home draw vs Luxembourg (UNL)
0-1 win at San Marino (UNL)
0-0 draw at Belarus (UNL)
2-0 home win vs San March (UNL)

Moldova Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-2-2-2

France Team News

Didier Deschamps, as always, has had to make a number of tough choices on who to call up and who to leave out.  Defenders Benjamin and Lucas Hernandez are both out injured, along with midfielder Corentin Tolisso and forwards Anthony Martial, Ousmane Dembele, and Alexandre Lacazette.  So that’s helped him make his choices, though it’s certainly unfortunate to have them all out.

France Key Man

Antoine Griezmann, no matter what the competition is, just keeps on scoring goals and doing whatever his team needs.  He scored four times in Russia, though three were from the spot, and he had a pair of goals in the UNL as well.  It just doesn’t matter to him what it is, he’s going to be a threat.  And that’s the case here as he seeks to add to his 26 goals.  Kylian Mbappe will also be looking to lead the line and increase his goals tally. After his breakout World Cup, the 20 year old will look to add to the ten goals he has already registered, more than most players would ever dream of after a whole career.

France Team Form

France have three wins, a loss, and a draw in their last five matches:

1-0 home win vs Uruguay (Fri)
2-0 loss at Netherlands (UNL)
2-1 home win vs Germany (UNL)
2-2 home draw vs Iceland (Fri)
2-1 home win vs Netherlands (UNL)

France Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-3-3

If not for the fact that France are going to be away from home here, then this would be totally slanted in their favor. Even with that fact, though, France are now doubt the major favorite to win this match. They are defending world champions and could probably come up with ten squads that would easily squash Moldova. While they did have one or two wobbles in World Cup qualification, it's just hard to envision them not starting Euro qualifying off with a bang.
Moldova have never qualified for a major tournament before, and they didn't win a single qualifier in the last cycle.
