Manchester City have won their last eight consecutive matches against West Ham – ten if you include friendlies, including the Premier League Asia Trophy in July. After their 4-1 pre-season win in China, City then started the league campaign with a 5-0 win at West Ham – Raheem Sterling scoring three times and having a fourth chalked off for a marginal offside, while Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero also netted for the visitors. Manchester City might be out of form in their last two matches – defeats to Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur – but they are big favourites to bounce back in this match.
They have an excellent record in this fixture, and put five past West Ham on the opening weekend of the season back in August.
West Ham are struggling too, blowing a 3-1 lead against Brighton last time out to highlight their defensive fragility.
That should be music to the ears of the likes of Sergio Aguero, who will look to continue yet another fine goalscoring season with more goals at the Etihad.
Kevin de Bruyne’s assists tally for the season remains outstanding, and with players getting back from injury too, City can go into the final few months in much better shape.
They need to sign off for this winter break with a win, however, and that will stem from being more clinical with their chances against the Hammers than they were against United and Spurs.
City’s record for doing that is superb, however, and West Ham should be worried ahead of this match – if they are not careful, they could be on the receiving end of yet another heavy City-inflicted defeat.
Manchester City are big odds-on favourites to beat West Ham, and they can be backed at 1/9 to win at home with Betfair and Betway.
City have an excellent record in this fixture and will be keen to get back to goalscoring and winning ways. Over 2.5 goals will return 1/4 with Bet365 and Betway, while over 3.5 goals is 4/6 with Bet365.

Manchester City vs West Ham United Prediction
Manchester City need to get back to their best. They have been creating chance but not taking them and somebody is going to face a backlash. The form book suggests that could very much be the Hammers.
Oleksandr Zinchenko is suspended after his sending off against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. Benjamin Mendy is expected to be fit to replace him at left wing-back, however, and Aymeric Laporte could also return to the team. Raheem Sterling is out with a hamstring injury, however, and Leroy Sane will not return until after the winter break.
Sergio Aguero – The Argentine striker has scored 21 goals so far this season as he continues to set goalscoring records for Manchester City.
Kevin de Bruyne – One of the stand-out players of the season so far, scoring seven league goals and providing an incredible 15 assists so far too.
Bernardo Silva – Last season’s Manchester City Player of the Season, the Portuguese playmaker will be keen to get back to his best after an inconsistent campaign so far.
More cracks have appeared in this Manchester City side after defeats in their last two matches. They lost 1-0 to Manchester United in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final, but they held on to win 3-2 on aggregate. Then, at Tottenham, they wasted too many chances – including Ilkay Gundogan’s missed penalty – and then lost 2-0 after Oleksandr Zinchenko was sent off for a second yellow card.
Jack Wilshere is a longer-term absentee but Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko could be back after the winter break. For now, however, the Hammers do have Ryan Fredericks, Michail Antonio back from injury. Both played against Brighton, and Fredericks’ return means there is likely to be no place for Pablo Zabaleta against his former club. Thomas Soucek made his debut in midfield last time out.
Robert Snodgrass – The Scottish winger scored twice in the draw with Brighton to prove what he can offer cutting inside from the right.
Michail Antonio – His return from injury (again) gives West Ham so much more going forward, particularly with Anderson and Yarmolenko out.
Declan Rice – The holding midfielder faces a thankless task of shielding the West Ham defence from the likes of Kevin de Bruyne.
West Ham United have not won a league game since New Year’s Day, despite having been 2-0 and 3-1 up against Brighton last weekend. Issa Diop’s opener and Robert Snodgrass’ two goals were ultimately only worth a point. It did at least end a three-game losing streak, however, after defeats to Leicester, West Brom and Liverpool.
