Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Sterling scored as Manchester City beat Newcastle 2-0 at the end of last month in the FA Cup quarter-final. Both players had also scored at St James Park in the Premier League, but Jetro Willems and Jonjo Shelvey both scored equalisers just minutes later. Here are the results of the last five matches:

Manchester City were excellent against Liverpool, with Kevin de Bruyne, Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling all running the champions ragged in a dominant 4-0 win.
Then they lost against Southampton last time out, which sums up their entire season and highlights why they are so far behind Liverpool despite being comfortable in second place.
Once again they will be looking to bounce back, but their home form has been excellent – especially since lockdown.
They have won all three matches now, scoring 12 goals without conceding, and the likes of De Bruyne and Foden have been in exceptional form.
City also have a slight edge having beaten Newcastle in the FA Cup – De Bruyne and Sterling netting in that game – just two weeks ago.
It is Newcastle’s only defeat since the season restarted but their form has been inconsistent too – an excellent win against Bournemouth followed by a less impressive draw with struggling West Ham.
Steve Bruce’s side have injuries in key places too, not least the middle of midfield, and if De Bruyne and Foden can put their stamp on this game, Newcastle will struggle to contain them.
After a dominant record in this fixture, City lost to Newcastle in the league last season and only drew this year.
They have not even dropped points at home to Newcastle in the league since 2006, however, and their last home defeat in this fixture was back in September 2000.
It would be a huge surprise, even by their inconsistent standards, if City did not win this match.
Manchester City are huge odds-on favourites to get back to winning ways and they can be backed at 2/15 with Betway to win this match.
They have scored 12 times without conceding in their last three home games – their three since lockdown – and you can bet against both teams to score at 8/13 with Bet365, Betfair and Paddy Power.

Kevin de Bruyne, on set pieces, could be a good bet to score at any time. He has netted in the last two games against Newcastle and he is a best price of 8/5 with Betfair and Paddy Power to score at any time again.
Inconsistent they may be, but City’s home form has been excellent and Newcastle could be on the receiving end of a big response to the Southampton defeat.
Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden could be back in the midfield after being rested on the bench last time out. Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy could return at wing-backs too, with City reverting to the team that thrashed Liverpool.
Raheem Sterling – Scored in the FA Cup meeting between these two teams and was also key to the win against Liverpool with a goal and two assists.
Kevin de Bruyne – Another penalty against Liverpool and yet another assist continued a superb season for the Belgian and he will want to get straight back to that level.
Phil Foden – Since the restart of the season, City’s most exciting young talent has thrived and his goal and assist against Liverpool continued some excellent form.
Manchester City’s inconsistency this season was summed up by their last two matches. They thrashed Liverpool in the Reds’ first game as champions – Kevin de Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden and an own goal ensuring a dominant 4-0 win that could even have been much more. Next up, a defensive error cost them in a 1-0 defeat to Southampton in which they had otherwise dominated proceedings.
Isaac Hayden and Sean Longstaff will be missing with hamstring injuries, leaving Newcastle light in the centre of midfield. Steve Bruce also suggested Allan Saint-Maximin will be absent too after two key performances.
Miguel Almiron – Scored in each of the last two matches to kick on from the goals he scored just before lockdown too.
Dwight Gayle – Has a point to prove after a shocking miss with the game evenly poised when these teams last met. He has scored twice since lockdown, however.
Jonjo Shelvey – Injuries in midfield give him a chance to slot in and he did score an excellent late equaliser when these teams last met in the Premier League.
Newcastle have lost once since the season restarted and that was in the FA Cup match against City. Since that 2-0 loss, they have won 4-1 at Bournemouth – Dwight Gayle, Sean Longstaff, Miguel Almiron and Valentino Lazaro all scoring – before a 2-2 draw with West Ham at the weekend. Almiron and Jonjo Shelvey scored in the latter.
