Our Prediction Tip

Madagascar will win this match.

In five prior meetings, DR Congo have three wins and a draw against Madagascar.  They have played twice in the last decade.  They played in AFCON qualification in 2015 and 2016.  DR Congo won 2-1 at home and then 1-6 away from home.

MAD vs COD Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Madagascar are at 10/3 to win, a draw is at 2/1, and a DR Congo win is at evens.

Madagascar came into this tournament in terrible form having won just twice in their last eight matches, but they have somehow turned into around and ended up topping their group in stunning fashion.  They did so by getting a draw in the opener with Guinea and then beating Burundi.  A great win over Nigeria followed that up, and this looks like a team that is capable of being very, very unpredictable.

DR Congo haven’t had the best form over the course of the last year, either.  All told, they have two wins, five draws, and three losses total.  They got incredibly lucky, both that the format for the tournament had been expanded and with other results, in order to go through.  They had lost their opening two matches, both 2-0 results with hosts Egypt and Uganda, before they spared their blushes with an emphatic 4-0 win over Zimbabwe to send them on.

Betfair have no for both sides scoring at 1.6.

Madagascar ahead after 75 minutes can be had for 3/1.

Madagascar Team News

Nicolas Dupuis has already overseen wonders here at this tournament, and after their impressive shock win over Nigeria, it would be no surprise to see him stick with the same side again.

Madagascar Key Man

That aforementioned win over Nigeria was thanks to two goals, one of which was scored by Charles Andriamatsinoro, making it his second of the tournament so far to go along with one assist.  That goal gave them real belief that they could hold on and win, and that is exactly what they ended up doing.  35 year old striker Faneva Andriatsima, the captain of the side, is another to watch here, as he seeks to add experience and know-how as well as carry a genuine goal threat.  The Clermont man has scored 13 times in 35 caps, and another here could potentially send them through.

DR Congo Team News

Florent Ibenge will be in a similar sort of position as his counterpart. After they didn’t do too much in the first two matches, it’s hard to see him straying from the formula he used to decimate Zimbabwe last time out.

DR Congo Key Man

DR Congo were keep from scoring in their two opening matches, but they roared into life in the final group stage match thanks in large part to Cedric Bakambu, the former Villarreal striker.  He scored twice in the win, and he is always going to be a player that can deliver goals when on his day.  At the back, Porto man Chancel Mbemba will be tasked at keeping the shock package out of goal.  He’s played 38 times for his nation and is their most well known defender and will have a lot riding upon him here.

DR Congo Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-4-2

This is a very difficult one to call here. Two sides that are not playing well and weren't expected to be meeting here face off, and it's anyone's guess as to who will win. With that said, Madagascar have looked the better of the two in this particular tournament, and we have seen plenty of shocks before. They roll on to the quarterfinals, where reality is likely to set in for good.
Madagascar had never ever qualified for an AFCON, and now they have advanced from the group as winners in shock fashion.
