Liverpool
VS
Chelsea

Our Prediction Tip

Draw will win this match.

This will be the fourth time these teams have met this season, with Liverpool winning the UEFA Super Cup on penalties and claiming a 2-1 league win at Stamford Bridge, before Chelsea won 2-0 in the FA Cup.  Back in August, Sadio Mane scored twice for Liverpool in Istanbul, with Olivier Giroud and Jorginho on target for Chelsea. Tammy Abraham missed the decisive penalty in the shootout though. In the league, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firmino scored in a 2-1 Liverpool win, with N’Golo Kante netting Chelsea’s reply, before Willian and Ross Barkley scored in the 2-0 league win. Here are the results of their last five meetings:

Mar 03, 2020: Chelsea 2-0 Liverpool
Sep 22, 2019: Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool
Aug 14, 2019: Liverpool (p) 2-2 Chelsea
Apr 14, 2019: Liverpool 2-0 Chelsea
Sep 29, 2018: Chelsea 1-1 Liverpool

Liverpool vs Chelsea Betting Tips

The momentum has gone out of Liverpool’s season since their title was confirmed – a thrashing at the Etihad against Manchester City setting the tone for their results since.

Despite the time off, and the lack of any other competitions to distract them, the Reds found themselves lacking when it came to targeting the points record.
Manchester City’s incredible 100-point benchmark is safe then, but Liverpool will still be lifting the title after this game against Chelsea.
Jurgen Klopp’s shock as Virgil van Dijk and Alisson – more than £140 million worth of combined talent – gifted Arsenal goals in that win summed up his frustration at a limp end to a fine season.

Having seen their title celebrations spoiled by some of their recent results then, Liverpool will be desperate to make sure they lift the trophy with a good result behind them.

But they come against a Chelsea team buoyed by their FA Cup semi-final win at the weekend and determined to seal their top-four place in the league.
Liverpool’s phenomenal home record has continued post-lockdown, albeit they dropped points at Anfield for the first time this season when they lost to Burnley last week.

But the Reds’ recent faltering could mean Chelsea can take at least a point with them – a result that, with top-four rivals Man United and Leicester meeting on the final weekend – may well prove enough.

Liverpool’s incredible season should be respected, but their dip in form since shows just how difficult it is to turn a good (and long overdue) title win into a great one.

Chelsea should fancy their chances of taking a step closer to Champions League football next season.

Liverpool vs Chelsea Recommended bets with odds

Liverpool are favourites and can be backed at 21/20 to win with Betway, but the draw at 14/5 with 888sport could be worth going for.
In three matches so far this season, both teams have scored in this fixture in two of them – Liverpool, in the FA Cup, is the only failure. Both teams to score has been set at 815 with Bet365 and 10Bet.
Over 2.5 goals will return 10/17, meanwhile.

Olivier Giroud has been in good goalscoring form for Chelsea and has netted against Liverpool already this season. He is 9/4 to score at any time with 888sport. For Liverpool, Mo Salah is a best price of 59/50 with 888sport and Sadio Mane is 8/5 with 888sport.

Liverpool vs Chelsea Prediction

Liverpool will want to lift the title after a good performance but recent results suggest Chelsea can take at least a point from this one.

Correct score prediction: Liverpool 2-2 Chelsea

Liverpool Team News

Jordan Henderson will kit up for the trophy presentation, but the Liverpool captain remains sidelined for this game. James Milner could be back in midfield, but Joel Matip is definitely out in defence.

Liverpool Key Players

Sadio Mane – Opened the scoring against Arsenal to continue his own fine goalscoring season but for once his goal did not lead to a win.
Mo Salah – Still on 19 goals for the season, the former Chelsea man can reach 20 in the league for a third consecutive season by netting against his former club.
Virgil van Dijk – A rare defensive error proved costly against Arsenal and the Dutch defender will need to be back to his best against Chelsea.

Liverpool Team Form

Liverpool have taken just one point from their last two league games and won just twice in five games since sealing the title. A draw with Burnley despite Andrew Robertson’s opener and a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal after Sadio Mane gave them the lead means the Reds can no longer set a new Premier League points record.

Liverpool Predicted Starting Line-up

Expected Line up: 4-3-3

Chelsea Team News

N’Golo Kante has been sidelined with a hamstring injury but Chelsea have other options to keep things fresh – Kepa Arrizabalaga is likely to return and Christian Pulisic could also start.

Chelsea Key Players

Olivier Giroud – Opened the scoring in each of Chelsea’s last four wins – the Blues lost the only game he did not start.
Willian – The Brazilian winger made a strong return to action when the football resumed and his goalscoring form in those games lifted him to nine for the season.
Mason Mount – Broke his goal drought in the FA Cup semi-final win and that may give him confidence going into the last couple of games of the season.

Chelsea Team Form

Chelsea bounced back from a surprise 3-0 defeat to Sheffield United by beating Norwich 1-0 in the league – Olivier Giroud scoring the only goal. The French striker found the target again to break the deadlock in the 3-1 FA Cup semi-final win against Manchester United at the weekend – Mason Mount and an own goal also helping the Blues to victory.

Chelsea Predicted Starting Line-up

Expected Line up: 4-3-3

Liverpool will finally get their hands on the Premier League trophy after their match against Chelsea at Anfield but, while the Reds can longer secure a record-breaking points tally – despite the players openly admitting they were targeting it until their defeat to Arsenal - the Blues still have a lot to play for. Sitting third, Frank Lampard’s side know a win will secure Champions League football. They could spoil the party.
Liverpool have not lost at Anfield in the Premier League since a defeat to Crystal Palace in April 2017 – a run of 58 matches without losing.
