Bournemouth have only beaten Liverpool once in 16 previous meetings and failed to even score in the last five – during which they have conceded 17 goals. Most recently, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Mo Salah all scored in a 3-0 win at the Vitality Stadium in December.

Liverpool’s stunning season will not end with an unbeaten league campaign, nor a new consecutive Premier League wins record, nor an FA Cup win.
In a week that very few saw coming, the Reds lost 3-0 to Watford and then 2-0 to Chelsea – even with performances dipping, Jurgen Klopp’s side had repeatedly found ways to win, and yet have now failed to score in three of their last four matches.
A backlash could be coming, however, and their record of five wins and 17 goals scored in the last five matches between these two teams could mean the Cherries have every reason to be fearful.
Defensive frailty that did not previously exist has been a concern for Liverpool, but Callum Wilson and co have failed to score in their last five games against the Reds.
Joe Gomez should be back to strengthen the back four too, and they can get back to their clean-sheet ways too.
The recent results should be the exact jolt Liverpool need after a dip in performances too, and a repeat of their 3-0 loss to Watford seems unthinkable.
It is even more the case with Liverpool at Anfield, where one unbeaten streak still remains, and the Reds are huge favourites to win.
Watford’s win was a big shock last weekend, but lightning can not strike twice – surely?
Liverpool are big favourites to get back to winning ways, with Ladbrokes, Betway and 10Bet all offering 1/4 on a home win.
Given their awesome attacking record in this fixture, over 2.5 goals at 8/15 with Bet365 and Betfair could be worth backing too.
Furthermore, Liverpool to win by three goals is 41/10 with 10Bet.
As for those goals, Mo Salah is 4/6 with Ladbrokes and Betway to score at any time, while Sadio Mane is a best price of evens with Ladbrokes.
Liverpool have faltered in recent weeks, and somebody could be in for a backlash – Bournemouth’s record in this fixture is not good and might be about to get worse.
Naby Keita may come back into contention for this game in midfield, but captain Jordan Henderson remains sidelined and Xherdan Shaqiri is a longer-term absentee. After fielding a much-changed team in the FA Cup last time out, Liverpool should otherwise be back to full strength for this one – including a return for Joe Gomez at the heart of the defence.
Mohamed Salah – Among his 19 goals for the season was one of the three when these teams met in Bournemouth in December.
Trent Alexander-Arnold – A stunning collection of assists from right-back have proved his value going forward – for the second consecutive season.
Sadio Mane – Scored Liverpool’s last two winning goals – at Norwich and at home to West Ham – and now has 17 for the season.
Liverpool’s stunning season has faltered in recent weeks. A 1-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid puts them on the back foot for the second leg of that last-16 tie next week, while they have lost their last two matches too – a 3-0 defeat to Watford in their most recent league game, and a 2-0 loss away to Chelsea in the FA Cup in mid-week. Their only win was at home to West Ham – two goalkeeping gaffes helping them as they won 3-2, with Sadio Mane scoring the winner.
Harry Wilson is ineligible to face his parent club, which is a blow for a Bournemouth team who have already had to juggle more than their fair share of unavailable players this season. Of the injury absentees, David Brooks seems to be the closest to fitness. Given Wilson was an unused sub last weekend, Bournemouth could be unchanged from the 2-2 draw with Chelsea.
Callum Wilson – The striker has scored seven goals up front so far this season, in 27 appearances, and will hope to have a similar impact to that which Troy Deeney had last time out.
Joshua King – Back from injury last month, and ended the month with his first Bournemouth goal since the start of November.
Ryan Fraser – The Scottish winger’s assist against Chelsea was his fourth of the season, and he has proved in recent campaigns he is capable of much more too.
After back-to-back defeats to Sheffield United and Burnley – the latter a 3-0 loss mired in VAR debate – Bournemouth got back on track by drawing 2-2 with Chelsea last weekend. Jefferson Lerma and Joshua King scored in a second-half turnaround as the Cherries earned a hugely valuable point in their relegation battle.
