LOSC vs MHSC Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Lille are at -120, a draw is at +250, and Montpellier are at +333.

Lille will begin the weekend in third place in Ligue 1.  They are on 28 points, putting them six off the pace of second place Marseille and a full 11 off PSG for the league lead.  PSG also have a game in hand, as if they didn’t have a solid enough advantage.  This means they are in the Champions League qualification slot by a point as of now over Rennes.  Many others are still in the battle, though, as the table is very, very cramped.  They have three wins in a row and ten points from their last five, so they are in nice form currently.

Montpellier, meanwhile, will enter this match in tenth place.  Despite how that might look, however, they are very much in the race for the Champions League spots.  That’s because they have 24 points to show so far, meaning they could equal Lille’s points total with a win here as they keep up their charge.  Over their last five matches, they have eight points and just one loss, so they have been tough to beat generally of late and will not be the easiest opponents for their hosts.

At home so far in Ligue 1, Lille have been nearly perfect.  They have taken seven wins and two draws, giving them a total of 23 points.  That is more than PSG so far, who have a loss to their names.  At this stage, Lille are the only team in the division that have not lost at home.  As for Montpellier, they have been far from impressive on their travels.  They have just five points, all from draws, so far and are still looking for their first road victory.  The only other teams still looking for that result are the bottom sides Nimes and Toulouse, such has been their awful away form.

Betfair have no for both sides scoring at 1.73.

They also have Lille’s double chance is at 1.17, a good prospect as they have four wins and three draws in their last seven home outings against Montpellier.

Lille vs Montpellier Prediction

Lille just have too much quality about them to be held back by Montpellier here.  Galtier has done a fantastic job in charge for them, and they will continue to reap those benefits with a win here against a team that does not travel very well.

Correct Score Prediction: Lille 1-0 Montpellier

Lille Team News

Christophe Galtier will continue to be without young striker Tim Weah here due to injury.  Goalkeeper Mike Maignan was injured in their loss at Chelsea on Tuesday, a match in which they rotated heavily, so look for him to miss out there as well.

Lille Key Man

One of the French top flight’s most prolific men this term has been Victor Osimhen, and unfortunately for Lille, it could mean he is set to move on sooner than later.  The Nigerian has nine goals so far, making him third in the division so far, and it could mean he moves on like Pepe did in the summer.  Not much else is coming in way of the attack, but there is some hope that Jonathan Bamba will get his act together soon.  He assisted for a goal in the loss to Chelsea and will look to add to his exploits in this encounter.

Lille Team Form

Lille have two losses and three wins in their last five matches:

2-1 loss at Chelsea (UCL)
1-0 home win vs Brest
0-1 win at Lyon
1-0 home win vs Dijon
0-2 home loss vs Ajax (UCL)

Lille Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-2-3-1

Montpellier Team News

Michel Der Zakarian will look for his side’s first away victory of the season here but will do so without center back Nicolas Cozza and midfielders Kylian Kaiboue and Jordan Ferri due to injuries.  Defender Pedro Mendes will miss out after being red carded in the loss to PSG last weekend.  That leaves him in a spot of bother in that position.

Montpellier Key Man

Goals have been super hard to come by for Montpellier on the road this term, so they will need to see striker Andy Delort step up here if they want a chance to win.  The Algerian has five goals and three assists, leading his side, but he will have to know this is a tough outing for him and his chances to increase that tally.  His partner, Frenchman Gaetan Laborde is also very much a factor.  He’s got two goals and three assists, so the two can certainly create havoc and opportunities to score goals.

Montpellier Team Form

Montpellier have a loss, two draws, and two wins in their last five matches:

1-3 home loss vs PSG
2-2 draw at Dijon
4-2 home win vs Amiens
0-0 draw at St. Etienne
3-0 home win vs Toulouse

Montpellier Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 3-5-2

With Lille coming into this match in good form, albeit three wins in a row by just a single goal, and a nice record at home to Montpellier, you have to favor them in this match up. Montpellier are going about their season fairly well, but they are not one of the teams that can think to even challenge toward the top. Lille have a long way to go to catch PSG, but they have pulled off some nice results and will remain in the top three picture with a victory.
Montpellier are one of three teams in Ligue 1 to have failed to win on the road so far (5D, 3L).
