Leicester City vs Aston Villa Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Leicester are at 4/11, a draw is at 17/4, and Aston Villa are at 7/1.

Leicester come into this match on the back of some very poor form in the Premier League of late.  In their last four matches, they are winless, taking just five points from the last five games.  On top of that, they have lost two in a row, including one away to bottom side Norwich last time out.  They did stop the bleeding a bit by seeing off Villa’s city rivals Birmingham City, but that will not do much for them if they can’t stop dropping points in the PL.  As things stand, they are third, but they have only eight points between themselves and Manchester United now, having had a much bigger lead at one stage.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, have their own form worries to attend to here.  They come into this match having lost three matches in a row in the league and four in a row in all competitions.  They made a fist out of the EFL Cup Final with City, but they just did not have enough and fell by a single goal in the end.  The three consecutive PL losses has them coming into this match in a lowly 19th spot with 25 points to their names.  They are two off Watford as of now, so a win could take them out of the drop zone for a while, depending on results elsewhere, that is.  They do, perhaps crucially, have a game in hand, though.

The Foxes have run into problems of late at home, but on the whole, they have been quite good at the King Power in the Premier League thus far.  They have 27 points from eight wins and three draws in 14 matches.  All three losses, though, have come in their last five outings and they have just four points in that same stretch.  Villa, meanwhile, have one of the worst away records in the league.  They have taken just eight points, via two wins and two draws, in 14 outings.  They do have half of those eight in their last four, though, so that is certainly a sign of improvement.

No for both sides scoring can be had for 2.1 via Betfair.

Ladbrokes have Vardy and Iheanacho scoring anytime at 2/3 and 5/6, respectively.

Leicester City vs Aston Villa Prediction

Leicester are in such a rut right now that it is hard to place a ton of confidence in them.  Having said that, Villa have been woeful on their travels and would really need to do something special to change that around here.

Correct Score Prediction: Leicester 1-0 Aston Villa

Leicester Team News

Brendan Rodgers has already stated that Jamie Vardy is 100% a go for this match, so we expect to see him feature.  Nampalys Mendy and Daniel Amartey, two rotation pieces, though, will not be available to the Northern Irish boss.

Leicester Key Man

Kelechi Iheanacho has had a great record this term against Villa, but we just can’t see Jamie Vardy not featuring from the start.  The English striker is the team’s top scorer, with 17, and even if he has not had much success of late, they will like their chances with him more up top.  One player that deserves his due is right back Ricardo Pereira.  The Portuguese man has been astoundingly good this term, and he scored the decisive winner late on to send them through to the FA Cup quarters on Wednesday.  He’s good in both defence and attack, as that showed once more.

Leicester Team Form

Leicester have a win, two losses, and two draws in their last five matches:

1-0 home win vs Birmingham (FA Cup)
1-0 loss at Norwich
0-1 home loss vs Manchester City
0-0 draw at Wolves
2-2 home draw vs Chelsea

Leicester Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-5-1

Aston Villa Team News

Dean Smith continues to miss out on the likes of John McGinn, Wesley, Tom Heaton, and Jed Steer due to various injury woes.  There is good news, however, on Jack Grealish, as it looks like he only had a touch of cramp and will be fit to play here from the off.

Aston Villa Key Man

When Wesley went down to injury, it looked like they were in a huge hole up front. But Villa have found that Mbwana Samatta is better than they might have thought.  The Tanzanian gave them a flicker of hope against City with a goal and scored against Bournemouth at the start of February as well.  Grealish is also, obviously, their main man to watch.  He has been vastly important, producing a whopping 38% of their goals.  That’s seven goals and six assists, putting him in the lead in each category.

Aston Villa Team Form

Aston Villa have four losses and a win in their last five matches:

2-1 loss vs Manchester City (EFL Cup Final)
2-0 loss at Southampton
2-3 home loss vs Tottenham
2-1 loss at Bournemouth
2-1 home win vs Leicester (EFL Cup)

Aston Villa Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-2-3-1

Well then. Neither side will come into this match with much form, Leicester's win over Birmingham in the FA Cup notwithstanding, of course. That means you can't really take a look at form then. You also can't just assume Leicester will win due to being higher in the table, as their EFL Cup Semis loss to Villa showed. Villa dug their heels in and played well in both legs and were deserved winners there, though you have a hard time seeing them win here.
Leicester come into this match winless in their last four PL games, while Villa have lost three in a row ahead of this fixture.
