LA Galaxy
VS
Colorado Rapids

Our Prediction Tip

Draw will win this match.

Galaxy have won three of their last six matches against the Rapids, but none of those victories have come in the last two meetings between the two sides. The most recent game was a 0-0 draw, while prior to that Rapids snuck a 1-0 win over LA Galaxy, but that match was at home.

Colorado have managed to pick up a draw on both of their last two visits to LA Galaxy, with a 6-0 thrashing to Galaxy in 2014 the only time this fixture has seen over 2.5 goals in six matches.

LA Galaxy v Colorado Rapids: Prediction

These two teams are extremely well-matched and it is tough to pick a winner, although LA Galaxy are in very good form and are yet to be beaten at home in MLS in 2016. The Rapids can be patchy on the road - they have not won any of their last four matches away from home - so a win to Gerrard and Co could well be on the cards here.

LA Galaxy v Colorado Rapids: Betting Tips

LA Galaxy can be backed at 4/5 to win this MLS match, a sign that the bookmakers are expecting it to be a close match between two of the top four teams in the Western Conference. Rapids are available at 4/1 but perhaps the best value from the match odds market is the 13/5 on the draw.

Only once have over 2.5 goals scored in Rapids last six visits to LA Galaxy, so under 2.5 goals is well worth considering at a stand-out price of 37/40. It could also be wise to bet against both teams to score in this MLS match, offered at evens.

A 10-match unbeaten run means there is little wrong with LA Galaxy's current plans so there will not be radical changes from the team that battled back to draw 2-2 at home against New York Red Bulls last time out thanks to a late equaliser scored by Ashley Cole.

Mike Magee made a goalscoring impact from the bench in that game and could be promoted to the starting roster as a result, but Robbie Keane and Giovani dos Santos will be hard to drop. Galaxy's other star names include Nigel de Jong and Steven Gerrard, who will both start here.

LA Galaxy likely XI:

Rowe; Cole, Van Damme, Steres, DeLaGarza; Gerrard, De Jong; Larentowicz, Lletget, Dos Santos; Keane.

A 2-0 win over Vancouver Whitecaps last time out helped Colorado Rapids to bounce back from their recent hammering at New York City FC and they currently sit second in the Western Conference, two places above Galaxy.

The Rapids could well be unchanged for this game, with both teams expected to line up with a 4-2-3-1 formation. Former Premier League striker Kevin Doyle will start up front.

Colorado Rapids likely XI:

Howard; Miller, Burling, Sjoberg, Burch; Powers, Cronin; Badji, Gashi, Hairston; Doyle.

Both teams come into this match on an excellent run of form, but there is a lot more proven quality in the LA Galaxy team, although the Rapids have a speedier team. The experience of the likes of former England internationals Ashley Cole and Steven Gerrard could be enough to sneak the three points for the hosts, but there are unlikely to be a lot of goals and the match might well end in a low-scoring draw.
Colorado are undefeated in 16 of their last 17 matches, but LA Galaxy have not lost any of their last 11 at home.
