- Top Two Nations From Each Group Advance to Euro 2020 Finals

Hungary didn’t get off to the best start in Group E, but they are coming along now with two wins in a row, helping them to top the section as things lie.  Wales now have just three points from two matches, meaning that they have done decently so far but it’s still very early days and there is a ton of football left to be played, including this big match, to help decide where the group will ultimately lead.  It’s tight here, and there is no massive minnow in the group that everyone with automatically beat up on.

Hungary are playing some nice football right now and look like they could be headed toward a possible Euro berth if they keep it up.  They have five wins, a draw, and three losses this past year, though they have won four of their last five and have lost just once in their last six game and twice in the last eight.  Two of those consecutive wins have been in the UNL as well, showing they are producing when it matters.

Wales have had a roller coaster time of it in the last few years.  They did so well in Euro 2016, but since then they have sort of fallen off the map, in truth.  They finished second in their Nations League group, but they never looked convincing enough to get promoted.  Over the course of the last year, they have four wins and five losses, showing just how unpredictable they can be at times.

Both teams scoring is at 2.0 via Betfair.

They also have Szalai scoring anytime at 3.4.

Hungary vs Wales Prediction

Hungary might not have been fancied by many to win much in this group coming into qualification, but they are starting to exert control over opposition when at home. Budapest becomes even more of a mythical fortress with another win over the Welsh.

Correct Score Prediction: Hungary 2-1 Wales

Hungary Team News

Marco Rossi is without defenders Attila Fiola and Adam Lang, midfielder Zoltan Stieber, and forward Daniel Bode, among others.

Hungary Key Man

Willi Orban may ‘only’ be a defender, but his contribution on Saturday in the win Azerbaijan, not the easiest place to play in, will be remembered for some time in Hungary should they seal a spot in the Euro 2020 field.  He scored twice and helped preserve the win.  Up front, the more traditional way to go is with Adam Szalai, a very good and underrated striker.  The Hoffenheim man has plundered 20 goals in 55 international appearances and could greatly harm Wales and increase his side’s chances here.

Hungary Team Form

Hungary have four wins and a loss in their last five matches:

1-3 win at Azerbaijan
2-1 home win vs Croatia
2-0 loss at Slovakia
2-0 home win vs Finland (UNL)
2-0 home win vs Estonia (UNL)

Hungary Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-2-3-1

Wales Team News

Ryan Giggs will be missing key midfield man Aaron Ramsey for this match, while defender James Chester and midfielder Andy King are others to have missed out on getting called in.

Wales Key Man

After coming off the bench and scoring a goal to give his side some hope on Saturday in their loss to Croatia, there will surely have to be consideration given to David Brooks here.  The Bournemouth winger had a fine debut season in the Premier League and is deserving of a start.  Going forward, it will be important that Wales capitalize on any set piece chances that might fall their way.  Harry Wilson has been brilliant at those of late, and that could be set to continue here if he’s afforded the opportunity.

Wales Team Form

Wales have three losses and two wins in their last five matches:

2-1 loss at Croatia
1-0 home win vs Slovakia
1-0 home win vs Trinidad & Tobago (Fri)
1-0 loss at Albania (Fri)
1-2 home loss vs Denmark (UNL)

Wales Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-3-3

Wales have got to be one of the toughest sides in all of Europe, and the world, to get a read on. They were so utterly brilliant at Euro 2016, but they have very rarely look the part since then. A lot depends on two or three star men, and that's where some things have fallen apart for them. In terms of this match, it's hard to call them winners. Hungary just defeated Croatia, World Cup semifinalists at home in March, and they can follow it up with another nice win.
Hungary have won each of their last four matches in Budapest.
