HTAFC vs WOLVES Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Huddersfield are at 4/1 to win, a draw is at 5/2, and a Wolves win is at 8/11.

Huddersfield start the midweek fixtures on the bottom of the table once again.  Still stuck on 11 points, they are just hoping they will surely be able to get a draw at some point to at least break the dubious tie with Derby County for the worst PL finish ever.  Huddersfield, truth be told, have not been nearly as bad as you might imagine.  They do play nice football, but they have lacked a scoring edge and have been made to pay for a lack of quality due to having little money to spend in comparison to other sides.  It’s only a matter of time, I’m afraid, before their relegation is confirmed.  It’s about lasting as long as they can now.

Wolves, meanwhile, remain in a good position to challenge for seventh place after they grabbed a decent draw away to a high flying (home) Bournemouth side on Saturday.  Despite the draw dropping them down to eighth on goal difference behind Watford, it’s still been a stellar season for them.  They are still in the FA Cup and they have been racking up the results recently.  They’ve not lost any of their last five PL matches, but they have now drawn two in a row, so there will be mild pressure put upon them to get back on track and reach their seventh place target, which is all but guaranteed to yield European football.

At home, Huddersfield have struggled mightily to keep up with the pace of the rest of the league.  We’ve seen teams in year’s past stay alive just from their home form, with Stoke City coming to mind as a classic example.  But Huddersfield have seen it all go wrong.  The Terriers have taken only five points, via a win and two draws, in 14 matches.  They are a whole seven off the pace of Southampton, who are the next club up.  It’s just so hard to envision them changing that around, no matter who they face, right now.

Away from home, Wolves have shown real character, guts, and class this season to make their move.  They are currently ranked seventh in the league from away fixtures, racking up 19 points from 13 matches.  That total has them above Arsenal, surprisingly, and it has seen them rise up and make it tough for just about every single opponent they have traveled to face.  Only one loss in their last five matches on the road and eight points from 15 show they will be hard to hold back for the Terriers.

Huddersfield haven’t scored in their last six matches, so no for both teams scoring is at 4/6 via Ladbrokes.

Betfair have Jimenez scoring two or more goals at 9.5.

Huddersfield vs Wolves Prediction

Wolves are the model by which all clubs strive to be when they get promoted.  Not only do they appear to be sustainable, but they have risen quickly and efficiently.  Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for Huddersfield, who have done so well to get here, but will fall and take a step closer to their impending doom.

Correct Score Prediction: Huddersfield 0-3 Wolves

Huddersfield Team News

Jan Siewert will be missing midfielder Danny Williams and forward Isaac Mbenza due to injuries.  Full back Tommy Smith, who was sent off early in the loss to Newcastle, will miss out via suspension.

Huddersfield Key Man

Despite having ten men for 70 minutes, Huddersfield controlled the ball nearly 50% of the game against Newcastle.  Footballing ability is not in question, it’s their goal scoring that’s the problem.  Laurent Depoitre hasn’t scored all season, and Steve Mounie has just one goal.  They need him to score here to give them a spark.  Aaron Mooy, one of the few players almost sure to stay in the PL if they do indeed get relegated, can be the man to set him up. The Australian has had a hard, injury tormented season, and has seen his time drag on as a result of awful finishing.

Huddersfield Team Form

Huddersfield have lost each of their last five matches:

2-0 loss at Newcastle
1-2 home loss vs Arsenal
5-0 loss at Chelsea
0-1 home loss vs Everton
0-3 home loss vs Manchester City

Huddersfield Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-3-1-2

Wolves Team News

Nuno Espirito Santo has been aided in his efforts this term by a team that has not picked up hardly any injuries, and that persists here as he once again has a full team to pick from.  Despite this, he is unlikely to make a bunch of changes but could make just a couple to freshen it up a bit.

Wolves Key Man

After a hard away match at Bournemouth that had a ton of drama to it, Wolves could turn to the electric pace of Adama Traore here for this match.  The Spaniard is not always the most consistent with his final product, but he is capable of creating a whale of trouble for opposition defences, and he could be just the key to unlocking an often stubborn Huddersfield Town.  Raul Jimenez, for my money, is one of the signings of the season, and he added to his goal tally from the spot on Saturday.  It was his tenth goal of the season, adding to five assists and showing just what the Mexican can do when afforded the chance.

Wolves Team Form

Wolves have two draws and three wins in their last five matches:

1-1 draw at Bournemouth
0-1 win at Bristol City (FA Cup)
1-1 home draw vs Newcastle
3-2 home win vs Shrewsbury (FA Cup)
1-3 win at Everton

Wolves Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 3-5-2

Huddersfield have yet to get a single point under new management, and despite having looked great against Wolves previously, it's almost impossible to see them pulling anything off here. The Wolves are hunting the rest of the division and looking to finish in seventh, while the Terriers are just looking to feed on scraps and not go down as the worst (or next to worst) teams in the history of the division.
Huddersfield have kept four successive clean sheets in this tie, but it's hard to envision them getting such a result this time around against a vastly improved Wolves.
