Our Prediction Tip

Germany will win this match.

The Netherlands’ 3-0 win in this fixture last month was their 11th in 41 previous games against Germany. There have also been 15 Germany wins and 15 draws. The Dutch had previously not won in five games against Germany, but last month’s match was their first in nearly six years since a goalless draw in November 2012. Virgil van Dijk, Memphis Depay and Gini Wijnaldum scored in the Netherlands’ win last time out.

GER vs NED Betting Tips

Considering how comfortably the Netherlands swept Germany aside in the end last month, it is surprising in some ways that Germany can be considered favourites for this one.

But their whole form in 2018 has been a blip, and out of character with the form they showed across the previous four to six years.

Joachim Low’s side proved as much when they blew Russia away in a dominant first half in their most recent friendly, with Leroy Sane back in the goals and Serge Gnabry continuing his good international record.

Marco Reus’ absence is a blow, of course, but with Sane and Gnabry in form and Thomas Muller looking to mark his 100th cap with a goal there is strength in depth.

The Netherlands are in resurgent form – defeat to France aside – under Ronald Koeman but the match away to Germany will be tough.

Germany’s record at home actually stands up to comparison despite their poor overall form – just a defeat to Brazil in Berlin tainting their otherwise excellent record.

The Dutch have proved they are back in form and Germany will be wary after last month’s defeat, but they bounced back in the perfect way against injury-hit Russia.

The Netherlands will, of course, be a tougher test but that just means it is a big chance for Germany to send out a statement that they are back on track.

Netherlands vs Germany Recommended bets with odds

Germany’s home advantage makes them favourites to beat the Netherlands, with Betway offering the best price of 4/6 on a home win.

Given their form, they are poor odds – but at the same time, Germany’s troubles have not been on home soil.

The Netherlands are capable of goals, however – as they proved with three against Germany last time they met – and over 2.5 goals will return 3/4 with Betway.

Both teams to score has been set at 31/40 with Betway – again the best price – and Germany to win and BTTS is 47/20 with 888sport.

Serge Gnabry has four goals in four international appearances for Germany, while Thomas Muller could also be worth backing to score at any time as he looks to mark his 100th Germany appearance with a goal.

Germany vs Netherlands Prediction

Germany were heavily beaten in the Netherlands last month but their record on home soil is much better and this is a chance to bounce back.

Correct Score Prediction: Germany 2-1 Netherlands

Germany Team News

Marco Reus’ withdrawal from the Germany squad, joining Julian Draxler and Mark Uth on the sidelines, was a sizable blow but the Germans still put three past Russia in their friendly last time out – Leroy Sane scoring to prove he is worthy of a return to the starting XI and Kai Havertz grabbing an assist in Reus’ place. Toni Kroos also sat the game out but the Real Madrid midfielder could return against the Dutch.

Germany Key Players

Leroy Sane – Had a point to prove after his World Cup omission and his early goal in the friendly win against Russia went a long way to proving it.
Serge Gnabry – The Bayern Munich winger now has four goals in four international games following his strike against Russia, having also set up Sane’s opener.
Thomas Muller – While it might come from the bench, the Bayern Munich man is set for his 100th international appearance and would love to mark it by adding to his 38 Germany goals.

Germany Team Form

Germany made it two wins from five games when they beat injury-hit Russia last time out – Leroy Sane, Niklas Sule and Serge Gnabry scoring the goals in a comfortable 3-0 victory. It was the perfect response to two below-par performances last month, which saw them lose 3-0 against the Netherlands and 2-1 away to France – despite Toni Kroos having given them the lead in the latter.

Germany Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 3-4-3

Netherlands Team News

While Justin Kluivert is having to be patient waiting for a return to the senior set-up, there are plenty of youngsters involved – including Hertha Berlin’s uncapped 20-year-old Javairo Dilrosun. Dilrosun and PSV’s 21-year-old striker Steven Bergwijn may have to be patient, however, with Ryan Bebel, Memphis Depay and Quincy Promes in good form and occupying the front three.

Netherlands Key Players

Memphis Depay – His goal in the reverse fixture added to his two in the win against Peru in September to continue a productive season so far for club and country.
Virgil van Dijk – A towering presence in his own box and a dangerous threat going forwards too – as proved by his opening goal in the win against Germany last month.
Ryan Babel – Continues to prove himself in the front three, having netted in the defeat to France in Setpember and also in the friendly win against Portugal last season.

Netherlands Team Form

Prior to the game against France in Rotterdam on Friday, the Netherlands had made a strong start to life under Ronald Koeman, as proved by last month’s 3-0 home win against Germany. Virgil van Dijk, Memphis Depay and Gini Wijnaldum all scored in that game. It was preceded by a 2-1 friendly win against Peru – Depay helping the Dutch come from behind to win – and a 2-1 defeat to France, in which Ryan Babel scored the visitors’ goal. Their most recent friendly was last month’s 1-1 draw with Belgium – Arnaut Groenevald scoring their goal.

Netherlands Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-3-3

The Netherlands stormed to victory against Germany when they met last month and the Germans will want to put things right on home soil. Home advantage could be key, however - their recent home record is in stark contrast to their poor overall form and if they tighten up defensively they can end their UEFA Nations League by gaining revenge on the Dutch.
For all their poor form, Germany are actually unbeaten in their last four matches at home - winning three of those.
